The A321 and to a lesser extent the 739 are the replacement airplanes for the MD88/90. Not sure where you’re coming up with 767 replacements.

I think he is talking about how they were marketed back in the day, not how Delta is actually using them now.

I agree with Bond. 767s need to stick around while we get 787s or 330s or whatever the flavor of the day is. This issue with trips statement is that 7ers don't need to go asap. They need to be moved from premium intl markets ( lhr jfk ) to other markets. Retaining airframes is a positive while growing a new product, no matter the age of the airframe (nwa dc9, dal 88...do pilots want those gone while getting 321s and the like? No, because it means more jobs....). Not simply saying "they are old, we need a one for one replacement and they need to go asap".

Like I said... public press releases. They are out there and specifically cite 767 replacement.

“...the Boeing 737-900 ER will have lower unit costs than the older technology Boeing 757 and 767 and Airbus A320 aircraft that it will replace.“

I thought the cseries was the md88 replacement. The 737-900/321 do much longer routes a la 757.

If I was in charge (this place would be a disaster), I'd Replace the 767s with a330s and order more a350s!

When we first ordered the 321’s Delta stated they were replacing domestic capacity as we retired the MD88’s and 767-300 domestic aircraft. I think all but the fab 4 domestic 767’s were however gone before the first 321 showed up.

I believe that's what it was. Not a 321 = 763, but 321s to replace 88s and 763s capacity.

It's all just a big basket.

Now that we have the history argument over.

Yes, domestic 767s are being replaced by narrow-bodies. What is the argument for the A321-neo paying less than the 767-300ER? (which is the same as the 757-200 BTW) If you can give me a reasoned argument, then I'll admit the error of my thinking to you and the world (via the internet and APC of course)

You can't but I'd love to see your attempt. Baradium... Sailing... patiently waiting.

And again, why all the wood for 787s? Bring in more 330s. Lots of 'em.
while i'd love 787s, I'm all for more 330s....we should pay them the top rate though.
