17AE out and 2 Reinstatement's back IN on the B side. They got the 15 position reduction without MDs.

I *think* this is where bypasses get a little weird. 6 ATL330A bid out - 3 of these got training bypass, but they’re still considered out for the purpose of the AE.

That left the door open for 6 to be awarded (actually 8 if you consider the 2 bypasses).

This is why bypasses have a snowball effect on others that will get paid more, but it is saving the resource of training time for the company which is (in their calculations) far more expensive.

Rumor has it ATL320B went much more junior (~14,200) this round with ATL73N near it (~14,400). Any truth to this? Is WidgetSeniority.com already updated with the latest AE results?

Trying to decide on whether to bid straight to ATL88B or roll the dice on another airframe hoping to keep my NYC time short.

How do displacements work as DAL parks 88s? Through the AE process?

As crazyjawdawg pointed out, 6 people bid out (3 awarded AEs and 3 bypassed awards to the A350) so it was a net of zero and, therefore, technically they did not award more than was posted to include contingency vacancies.

This is a classic example of why it's important to always have a bid in (with % caveats) on every bid. You just never know how much will be awarded via backfills.

What's your long term goal, to hold ATL? On a specific airplane? A displaced pilot can go anywhere there is someone junior to them to bump out. The 88 draw down in ATL, which has come in fits and starts, has somewhat warped what's going on in ATL. As the fleet has shrunk you've had mid-high level FO's bailing to better fleets (320, 757, even to some CA positions) and junior ones bailing to get off the bottom. Supposedly in May the big axe will come down and the vast majority of the 88 pilots will be displaced off. Until that award is final there's no way to tell how things will shake out. If you bid NYC 320 hoping to get ATL it might take a while if a large chunk of senior 88 FO's get displaced ove to the 320, potentially even kicking out the junior people to other fleets and/or bases. Once that bid is complete ATL should return to a more normalized seniority progression across all the fleets.

I think you may be on to something. I would have never considered someone on a bypass as having left the category. I wonder if the new thing they show on the bypass results.....NBCRET....comes into play.

As you correctly deduced my goals are: 1) get to ATL to make the wife happy (she's from the area) and 2) fly a more comfortable airplane without an additional trip through training. I had not considered the effects of the -88 drawdown pushing ATL320B more and more senior. With that information the option to go straight to the -88 and ride it off into the sunset makes more and more sense.

Remember too, you are at the mercy of what aircraft/bases are available to your class.

Airbuses production problems are continuing. Were it not for the Max it would be getting a lot more press. (When the heat is on someone else it’s not on you!). The 88 may have more life at Delta than some believe.
