The reason they are surprised is because you are not correct.
There currently are not 500 88 captains senior to the plug.
And 2014 hires on 6 year pay are captain on two fleets in ATL. And off the top of my head, I count 9 fleets at different bases on which 2014 hires are captain.
Yeah, 320A is going senior and probably will for a while. Guys like 80 will be junior for a while. But he et al knew what they were getting into. It’s not too hard to read the tea leaves.
I am for a good gripe & moan session, regardless of the topic. Just make sure you get the gripes right.

Pretty amazing how junior LAX 320 and 737 Captain have become. When I got hired it was 8 years for to hold plug FO on the West Coast.

Given that I’m more than 3000 numbers junior to you no matter where you were pre-merger, and I have been ATL320A for a couple years now... bid what you want, and want what you bid.

But you wouldn't have held ATL if there was no merger either. You could have held ATL320A on the May 2017 bid...and you could hold the 320 at former north bases correct?

That is true...if there had been no merger I could not hold ATL 320A ...BUT IF NWA ( which at one time owned 50% of CAL stock, and was FORCED by the DOT to sell that stock) had merged with CAL (DOH) ... I would TODAY be = 787A in IAH...which is a better place to live than Peach Tree City. I could not bid 320A previously because I was under an equipment lock...and the NWA crew bases sucked too= SNOW TOWN - MOTOWN- and NOTOWN only good ones were HNL and SEA which were 3 digit

Another first world problem dude... sorry (not).

Actually A320 and 737 A in Atlanta junior seniority are both 2007 Delta or 2001 NWA. So what you meant is you didn’t get it on this AE. Your seniority holds it no problem. Let’s be transparent here. Facts.

320 and 737 captain are the standard for most airlines. Jetblue, Southwest, United, and some others don't even have anything smaller. The guy has 23 years with the company and can't hold either captain seat in our largest base. That's pathetic. Anyone who disagrees isn't paying attention. Looks like it will be a 17 year upgrade for me. I know, I know; I choose to commute and choose to be off to watch my kids grow up. 88 captain is artificially low due to the fact that they are getting ready to park them.
