Did anyone hear from BS on how soon the MSP 717 base would open?

Yeah, as it turns out NOT commuting is also a choice a lot of guys are going with.

The reason they are surprised is because you are not correct.
There currently are not 500 88 captains senior to the plug.
And 2014 hires on 6 year pay are captain on two fleets in ATL. And off the top of my head, I count 9 fleets at different bases on which 2014 hires are captain.
Yeah, 320A is going senior and probably will for a while. Guys like 80 will be junior for a while. But he et al knew what they were getting into. It’s not too hard to read the tea leaves.
I am for a good gripe & moan session, regardless of the topic. Just make sure you get the gripes right.

Seems to me our base by base seniority is a lot like real estate: Location, location, location. Amazing how senior ATL continues to be.

320 and 737 captain are the standard for most airlines. Jetblue, Southwest, United, and some others don't even have anything smaller. The guy has 23 years with the company and can't hold either captain seat in our largest base. That's pathetic. Anyone who disagrees isn't paying attention. Looks like it will be a 17 year upgrade for me. I know, I know; I choose to commute and choose to be off to watch my kids grow up. 88 captain is artificially low due to the fact that they are getting ready to park them.

Well I guess you're right if you counting the 88 and 717 as Delta Connection

Fair enough. I’m smelling what you’re feeling, I’m just not picking it up. That’s a beauty of Delta for us (there are not-so-beautiful aspects as well), at least for now: plenty of proverbial seats for every proverbial butt to find a seat. (I fear that “beauty” is going to turn ugly for the company soon, though. We’ll see...)
I also choose to watch my kids grow up. Junior A means I either make the same by working less or make more when I work a normal schedule. Long story short, weekends do not matter to me. I also live in base, so being junior is easier.

Yep... I give it about a year before the logjam breaks... I knew it coming in.

Those bypasses are a shining light of things to come!

Totally agree. That's the 2nd level analysis of this AE. The retirement wave will have unprecedented opportunities for us. Whether it's age 62+ Bypasses, or earlier seniority than anyone ever.

The 3rd level is, how can we leverage that to our advantage at the bargaining table? We MUST extract maximum benefit if we even consider giving an inch to alleviate the problem they knew was coming, but failed to properly plan.

What's the saying? "Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

He couldn't hold it on this AE, which I found strange. But the seniority list suggests the 73 plugs on the 320 and 73 have a tad less than 17 years.

Doesnt JB have 190s?
