The OP is happy in a 737...only wants domestic if he stays or goes to DL. Just don't care about international unless I am on vacation. Mid 40s, flown all over the world for 20yrs...just asking if some former SWA now DL guys mind if I ask them what they found out that when they transitioned over.

Sounds like SWA wasn’t your target job in the first place. I’ve also never seen hub-and-spoke flying here at WN, five legs of course, certainly never those legs!
I just started year 4 at WN. One thing I’m happy with is that I have 20% of the airline below me. If the impossible furloughs would happen, 2000 guys below me is comforting.
For the OP, best of luck. I had two class mates have DL offers and they chose to stay at WN. Nice to have the option open.

I guess, I am seeing that there is a real fear of making a bad choice leaving the only airline that has never furloughed, and profitable every year of its existence.

Wasn’t my first choice either. (Or 5th or 6th...) and if I were 10 years younger I’d be shooting for Delta. That said, there’s value in having 1100 below you.
I had 1149 below me at another major on 9/11 and still ended up on the street.

It wasn't, it was my number #3 and wow, being on the inside, makes me happy. DL was my first choice, but they were not prompt on the invites 2 years ago. I now have ~1100 below me in my time here.

All this talk of which plane is better or "shooting myself if I had to fly a 737 for the rest of my career" is all BS bravado. This doesn't even register on my GAS meter. What pegs my GAS meter are things like stability (balance sheet, scope and how much of the flying is outsourced), bases, pay scales, retirement, etc.
But don't worry... you'll know if you made the right career moves on your retirement flight. The journey there is the fun part.

I hope no one ever gets furloughed and the whole industry is run much leaner than in the past but a sharp Dropoff in pax and/or oil spike and/or crappy Mgmt moves will cause some pain none the less.
Even without getting furloughed, getting stranded on the bottom of a list for years without movement can cause some serious career indigestion. Many that just avoided a furlough had several years of displacement pain.

While this is true (and I sat sideways for 5.5 years) it was 20 years ago. I get your point, but the indigestion is long over.

I was simply trying to show that oldboyroy’s statement that SWA was the “only” airline that has never furloughed anyone, was incorrect.

I can speak first hand, left Swa after 2 1/2 yrs to Delta 2014, best move I every made and allot happier! Swapped from the backside of a wave to the breaking front of a wave! But got say to each there own and not easy starting over!
Very simple and one word,
““OPTIONS””
Delta you can fly turns all day long if you live in base, or fly one large 10-12 days and live any where! You can upgrade in 1-2 years to a NB or go to large WB, or go SR in NB and GS all month it the fact that you have a choice and you go back and forth during your carreer!
Hired right into WB, now on ever large WB for past two years.
Delta has enough “planned” retirement in next 8 years, that mean anyone hires now will be 1/2 up the company in time frame, and 2/3 in the next 12.
SWA is still a great company and great people! But Delta has a great culture too.
Please pm me and happy to tell the difference I have found.
