Default Fidelity retirement active management?

I've got the Netbenefits account and I also use Fidelity for my other retirement accounts.

Right now, I manage the accounts myself.

There's a team at Fidelity that would actively management the retirement accounts for somewhere around 3/4 of a percent.

Anybody use them with insight on their performance?

(If you use a manager other than Fidelity, I would also be interested in your experience).

Thanks in advance.

Didn't Warren Buffet infamously win a $1,000,000 bet with a hedge fund manager that over 10 years he couldn't beat an index fund?

Yes, and he donated the money to charity.
His low-cost index fund selection beat the actively managed fund... but the fidelity active management picks funds and allocates your assets based on your age and risk capacity/tolerance. This is different than the 1v1 contest.
The low cost target-date retirement funds more mimic what the fidelity actively managed service does.

I'm on the 2045 life cycle plan and it's been doing great. Login, see YTD increase and smile. Easy peezy.

I do that with my 2050 life cycle plan and it’s red.

Lifecycle 2045
Performance AS OF 11/2/2018
YTD (Daily)* -2.07%

I use Lifecycle as well, so I didn't think that sounded right.

Early this year I compared my 2050 fund with lage cap, mid cap, and market index funds...and the 2050 performance was embarrassing. So I pulled about 60% of it out and reallocated to the top performing index funds and did a lot better.

Do not leave all the money in the life cycle. Get a mix of 5-6 indexes (s&p 500 one of them), so your money is in different places.

I have only 5% of my money in the LifeCycle 2050.

I put 0% in Lifecycle. Never liked those target date plans. I do put 5% in the Contrafund which is widely known as the best mutual fund in the world, largely due to Will Danoff being an investment stud.

I pan for gold on layovers and buy mega-millions tickets with the proceeds.

Seriously, another pilot advice investment thread.
