So talking to a SWA buddy it seems like they have much better medical benefits. One thing is that they have a “no cost” option to the employee. It may not be the lowest total out of pocket option but still better than a stick in the eye.

This is something that would benefit all of the pilots as there are plenty of us out there who are otherwise covered through TRICARE or a spouses plan.

The other option would be some sort of kickback from the company for declining medical insurance as that saves them money so why not split that savings with the employee?

Agreed, our medical is pretty terrible. A kickback for not using their coverage would be a nice way to get the Tricare guys on board. I would like to see retiree medical addressed as well.

As much as I’d like to see improvements to all of our medical benefits, active and retiree, we can’t forget the company’s line about it not being fair to the other groups. As long as we have to price that in to our negotiations, this will be a tough road to travel.

Remember we have the DPMP in our PWA the other employees do not have. So no need for me too.

DPMP doesn't allow us the tax benefits of the HSA plans. My gripe is that if we are going to have HDHP plans, we should have little to no premium.

DPMP must be a good thing for the pilots, because the Co. tries to pry it out of my wrinkley hands every year.

Wait a minute.........let me think about this............

So a kick back for not using medical......isn't that giving a benefit to a select group? Let me see........where have I heard the argument that any contract enhancements should benefit the whole group????

Dilemma: If we stay healthy, the Pension-dumpers win.

Any pilot could take the kickback and pass on the medical.

I am on my wife’s medical plan, because it’s just better. Costs me roughly the same as a Delta plan, but the coverage is better. It would be nice to get a kick back, as I am saving Delta thousands of dollars a year by not being enrolled in their medical plan.

FWIW, Many companies do have kickbacks for not using their plan and saving them money, in fact a previous airline I worked for did that.

I am sure I am not alone.
