Vyperdriver, The vast majority of the pilots that transition from the right seat of widebody to left seat domestic do NOT bid back to the right seat. I understand it was not your choice. 320A vs 330B. Have done them both. Two entirely different animals.

For anyone senior to ~10k, I would stay away. The Scairbus is very scary...it flies you, you don't fly it! Where there should be a yoke, there is a table... You're not even a real pilot anymore.

As long as you can handle the time zones, you'll likely as ask yourself why you went to NB Captain in the first place. Lots of FOs I fly with say they won't leave until they can hold 330A. Feel free to PM if you have any questions from a fellow junior DTW330B.

It’s the least desirable Captain position by far but in the grand scheme of things the gripes listed above are small for a job that pays 250k+ without even breaking guarantee. Regional guys are doing it for a lot less. And always remember, it’s New York. If you can make it there you can make it anywhere. Best of Luck

Transatlantic yields are increasing. The flying always migrates to the money.

It’s not for the faint of heart. You have to have a positive, adventurous mindset. Coming off your off days if you don’t have a trip expect Short Call on day one of each reserve stretch so very little opportunity to sit long call at home if you’re junior. If there isn’t anything in open time expect to sit shortcall multiple days in a row so you’ll need a crash pad. Hotels are quite expensive. Virtually all trips assigned to you are uncommutable on both ends. Getting to EWR at 6am is a pain. When you land at LGA at 10pm to finish a trip and try to take uBer the surge price will be around $50-$60 because you and everyone else just landed and the aircraft RONs. Besides the trips being uncommutable the NYC flying overall is quite nice. Longer legs than ATL trips. And if you get out west the flying out there makes for some stunning views.

Very true. Although LAX is making a run for the misery title, it is still quite a bit behind NYC.
