Default Glass Half Full

Now that we have pointed out all the faults of this AE like:
-New hires can't be 777 F/Os
-ATL is shrinking
-NYC is horrible
-They posted 50 Captain slots in SLC that nobody told us about.
-Millennials whine, no old pilots whine
-1st year As may have to find their old 3 stripe epaulets.

Lets look at the positives:
-Net gain of 100 WB captains, with 63 of them at the highest rate on property.
-Commitment by Delta to put a WB base back in MSP, reversing the long term shrinking trend.
-411 NB captains (net gain of 100) on airplanes where the ramp is actually WARMER than the cockpit in the summer.
-62 WB FOs with a net gain of (only) 2 at the highest rate.
-Thousands of OE hours over the next 365 days means lots of LCA bidding, even with the crappy C15 rules.
-Despite the efficiencies gained by our data driven management, the 1200 projected training events equates to 100 pilots per month that are in training vs flying. That means JOBS.

I have no doubts that many of the “junior” captains on other equipment will move over for better seniority. Guys have complained that there’s been virtually zero movement on the captain side. And by complaining I mean more of a passing comment as opposed to whining.

There’s been plenty of movement....just backwards.

Over the next twelve months we retire 125 widebody captains and 16 widebody FOs. The ER retires 73 captains and 10 FOs. There are 84 narrowbody captains retiring. This is a big bid, but it doesn’t account for all retirements. Hopefully there will be another bid that does.
