I respect your opinion, in all your posts 80...

That would be great outcome for the A's....what about the mid level 88B's??? This AE is a disaster for them.

Regarding the 90's....biggest POS ever designed. It's coffin cornered at 30k on a good day. Wish they would retire those totally and keep some 88's around. Unfortunately not the range of the 90s

It just reiterates that they can't award a new hire a position that an active pilot has a valid bid in for and they chose to not award. They can award new hires positions or backfills as long as they honor any valid bids first.

That's just following the contract. If they don't backfill when pilots have bids in for those positions, then they can't offer them to new hires.

I admit I am three fingers into a good rye, but I think Mr. high flying attorney is asking —among other things—why current pilots would get another chance at an unfilled AE position before a newhire? Did I read you right, counselor?

I wish I had 80’s optimism. Unless they carry overages in many categories, my pessimistic eyes see this as no bueno for several demographics of ATL pilots.

If that is the case, the short answer is they won't. They only get one chance, but it doesn't count if the company elects to not award the position (since the chance didn't actually exist). That's all they're saying, that any positions they elect not to award won't be available to new hires unless another AE is offered with those positions first. Any positions that simply go unfilled, however, can be offered.

The lack of "smaller more frequent" AEs is a quality of life issue for me and other newer hires who haven't made it to the domicile where we want to be yet. Is there any way to address this in the next contract that will respect seniority, but allow for more frequent (than yearly) movement between bases (especially in situations that don't trigger a training event)?

That is potentially the case since they have kicked the can down the road, however.... the 6 week plan changes every 2 weeks.

Northwest used to have monthly bids with a very specific conversion window. The bids happened exactly 3 months out.

It has been done before, but will require negotiating leverage.

Exactly....which is why I mention it. Sounds like the hiring is drying up for a while.

75+ oil and to much capacity coming into the domestic US system. SWA just suspended all hiring and American is rumored to be putting the brakes on. I am actually surprised this bid was as positive as it is. I expected far less given that the industry appears to be flat at best.
