Default International cell phone plans

Interested in everyone's thoughts on cell phone plans. I have Verizon and it is $40/mo for international and some countries are not covered. What is everyone using?

T-Mobile. You get one hr of free wi-fi on all DAL flights with unlimited texting. Works great internationally too.

ProjectFi from Google.

Calling in over 130 countries usually under .20¢/min, wifi calling and texting, data at or around the current rate of $10/GB.

Great program and great service. Only downside is you need to own a latest gen Nexus or a Pixel.

You can check the coverage and prices per country using that link.

Had Verizon and coughed up $10/24 hour period overseas for the travel pass. Worked fine, but NY ER resulted in some expensive months. Debated going to T mobile for 2 years like everyone else I flew with, then finally did it as I go to the 717, go figure. So far, rural areas are weak service, as well as in buildings, but they're updating a ton of network and frequency bands. We came over last month on a plan where they bought out our old phones that we owed on at Verizon, and we pay $100 total a month for 2 lines, unlimited data. So far it's been a lot faster than Verizon, but limited out in the sticks. Check their coverage maps though, supposedly a lot changing in the next 6 months. International T mobile is good as long as you can get by with 3G and texting. If you need LTE or to call home, you might be better on Verizon. TMobile remains unlimited overseas, but at 3g only. And calling home is only free over WiFi, so get your Google voice working and call from the hotel WiFi or just text home. Overall, T mobile is dirt cheap. I wish I would have done it earlier when I started doing the international every week.

T-Mobile. For an extra $5 a month you get unlimited gogo and LTE speeds international.

That's good to know, though I think it's $10 now. Still I'm liking that number.

Tunes speaks the truth. T-Mobile plans seem like they were made for airline employees that travel internationally often.

AT&T with the iPhone. Anywhere in the world with a wi-fi signal (I use airplane mode to avoid roaming) and you get an indication 'ATT wifi'. IPhone will make and receive calls as if it is in the US (think voyage), and it's free. Seems like free wifi is nearly everywhere in Europe.

Way slower than LTE, but faster than the standard plan.
