Not trying to be thick here Sailing. I assume the term Seasonal Base means VB? I just have to think the overall cost of a VB would be less than opening a permenant base or the company wouldn't even be interested ( although my opinion is the company is working toward INTL VB).

We already have a base in CVG. It would not make sense to incur all the costs of closing the base to open a VB. Once you incurred the displacement costs, paid moves, training ect you would then have to provide free hotels and positive space to the pilots based in CVG. Makes no sense to me to switch a current base to a VB.

So I have heard approximately 15 different people on various forums say that they heard of a potential c-series base in Texas, virtual or otherwise. Unless the fake rumor network is strong, this one seems to be gaining steam. I've heard DFW, AUS, and SAT mentioned.
Anybody else heard anything on this? Anybody know somebody that would know? I'm guessing this is one of 2 or three COA's that are up for debate on the 4th floor and that is where the nugget of truth is coming from.

FWIW Bombardier does have a maintenance base in Dallas and I heard this is where the C series will do some maintenance. I think its at DAL and I am not even sure how this affects a potential base in the area.
Until it is on a ramp with a Deltoid in the cockpit it is all speculation - even if the plan is 100% certain today the odds that it will change within a year are probably 50%. Just ask the E-190 instructors.

Training cascade for the senior folks that are displaced, maybe? If you're local and senior you just sit tight and finish out your last few years. If not, you would be in the training mix anyway.
Do I still get to use my maniacal laughter? BWah hahahahah, BWah haha. Mark my words.

Wait, what? A virtual base has a higher cost structure than the regular base there now? Allllllllllll righty then. (Ace Ventura) Facilities, staff, popcorn, coffee, chief pilots office, workout room, commuter storage, airport IDs, big screen TV, computers, did I mention the popcorn? Hmmmmm.........you could be right, but...I don't think so.

There are no requirements for anything you posted in a regular base contractually. A VB and a small regular base can use exactly the same facilities. If it's a VB the pilots get PS transportation, paid parking and free hotels. Regular base they get none of that. Didn't you post we would be awash in VB bases by now?

Last week, I took my family on a BOS-DUB trip. The 757 had lie flats, but I don't know if that's what you had in mind when you wrote this.
