That's not sarcasm. They really don't know either. There will come a point when they will have to pick something and they will, but the next day they'll probably regret it. So they'll probably open more way too soon, which they will also regret later. Marketing dominates all, and FltOps and all related departments are hanging on by the static wicks trying to keep up.

Don't worry, they don't know either.

I'm not sure why it's such a big deal to know where it will be based prior to the AE opening. We know the initial basing has to be in one of our current bases. You're either willing to bid it in one of those cities, or you're not. My mind is already made up on where I would be willing to bid C100A.

Analysis paralysis. So much data and so many opportunities, but which one will make the most $$$...

I don't get all the angst either. There will be 3 or 4 C series bases within 2 years of the intro into service. LAX and NYC will either open together or one or the other will open on the 2nd bid. As for how the aircraft will be used the company has stated it will be mostly used to replace large RJ's.
I don't think its angst - I think its more of an excited anticipation. Kinda like each month as we eagerly await the bid awards, fingers crossed, only to be: {Pick one} crushed/****ed/disappointed/stoked/happy/confused/overjoyed/thankful/upset/meh/distraught/perturbed/fretful/vexed and finally very happy until you notice the guy junior to you got the exact trip you wanted in which case - see above list.

That said, I really do think an initial CS300 order (like Air Canada's and Korean's CS300 orders) would have made more sense since the 717 can handle the 1,000-mile, 100 seat regional markets....

I know this has been discussed at length (especially the cheaper derated engine options) but why use the CS100 to replace large RJs when 717s can be used for that purpose? Although the CS100 will be more efficient and more comfortable for business travelers than the 717, I still don't see the CS100 and 717 occupying the same space other than having comparable seat counts. No doubt the CS100 will be well liked by passengers and profits will improve on the shorter flights with the improved fuel efficiency. It will be a great airplane for Delta.
