I agree that you will probably see the LAX-DFW-LGA type route initially. Those are big business markets (corporate contracts critical for Delta) and the CSeries will be a crowd pleaser from a pax ergonomics standpoint. I hope positive efficiency data and more airframe deliveries over time lead to more transcon point-to-point flying because premium-paying business travelers will ultimately want more convenient flights. JFK-SNA, BDL-SAN, HPN-BUR, FLL-SEA and ATL-PSP will all be feasible options to consider. No doubt the route planners are getting excited...

That would be it, MadDogMike.. I was going into Rio on dark, stormy evening. The 15" PFD screen has the whole if the bay, the mountain peaks, Santos Dumont, the city all laid out. Great SA, all the altitudes make sense versus the visual terrain. Turn the corner to line up, the approach lights, runway are all shown as if daytime visual. The HUD showed all the terrain until I went over to EVS for the final. Wonderful stuff, no operational advantage.
Same thing a couple days later on a night arrival into Santos Dunmont which is short, no overruns with water at both ends--HUD FPV makes the approach easy and accurate.

I don't know why DFW is the focus... why not ORD or PHL... maybe that's in the further works...

FWIW, heard the latest plan from a C-Series program pilot as of a meeting this week is that of the first 14 aircraft delivered, 7 will be used out of NYC, 5 will be used in LA and 2 will be out of DTW (which will likely be the third crew base after NY and LA).

Looks like Korean's first of 10 CS300s (10 more options and 10 purchase rights) has been painted. Looks fantastic! Check out the pictures and video on this link:

No doubt Delta will be curious about the CS300 performance data.
