One of the more clueless posts I have seen.

Ummmmmmm.....what? Maybe unpopular if it's based in NYC, but certainly not because of the airframe or routes....get real.

Hmmm...pay rates are better than B717 and comparable to M88 and it has modern air conditioning. Not that bad, really, for its size.

Maybe you guys will do better with a mainline contract, but a few years back, we were doing the 76 seat point to point stuff that Ed says the Cseries is replacing, and it ran us so thin at 9E; Was part of the reason for the retention bonus, and a guarantee from Delta, that the majority of our flying will be out of the hubs.

During that time, I would get 4 day trips with 15+ hours of deadheading, and it got old real quick.

I know some guys don't like DHing, but I don't mind.
Pay me to read a book or watch movies (in a polo) all day

This! If you're going to pay me 20 hours to work 5, I'm going to jump on it every single time.

Delta's focus is to reduce credit time, not increase it. They need all the productivity they can get to staff the airline. Reserves will always do some deadheading but the tripulator has come up with some ridiculous routings just to save credit. I don't see this changing with a new fleet. Small catagories always have a difficult time with productivity, but we are getting 75 and 50 options so it won't be small for long.

There will be growing pains as the category starts. The planes won't come as fast as we saw the 717 arrive. So yes, lots of DHing and credit. Big deal. It goes with a new category. Eventually it will be a mature option in the Delta pantheon. All indications is that it will be a joy to fly.

Would not be at all surprised to see this jet flying to Latin America or even South America, secondary cities like Cartagena or smaller cities in Mexico from JFK and LAX. I think they might want to consider that when thinking about the HUD option. Not to mention Key West...

And with a new category, there will always be the magic of 23.G.5.
