I can see Airbus looking to install a new flexi line capable of producing both A321 and CS Series as needed. With the backlog of A321's just from US Airlines they could keep Mobile busy for the next 10 years, even if they were to bump monthly output to 6 A320 series, while still being able to produce a 2 or 3 CS series each month.

Plus jv partners. Plus oal majors? The line will have more than enuf to keep it busy.
Exactly. Add potential CSeries orders at AeroMexico and others and you need stronger production flow through - why not add an extra line in Mobile (especially for the CS300)? There are rumors that JetBlue is also considering a CSeries order as an E190 replacement too...

True, but the Canadian government appears willing to pay for everything anyway, so why spend the money?

Airbus can leverage the suppliers in a way Bombardier never could as well.

Also, the CS300 is closer to 737 territory. Can Boeing bring another dumping lawsuit when we start taking deliveries of the 300 if they’re not being built in the US. That might be enough motivation to build them in the US, unless we are paying substantially more for the 300’s. Just my opinion, I’m not a lawyer and I slept at home last night.

Do we get the same initial price if orders are converted to the 300?

From my observation and speculation: The first 35 must be the -100, then after that the remaining firm and options can be converted to -300s. That works out nicely for DL to receive a steady stream of C-series from Montreal on schedule. Then, by the time ship #35 is delivered, they could have Mobile up and running to convert to -300s.

Or worst case pay a higher market price which would avoid the 'dumping' claims and the planes would still be a hit.

Why do we want the CS300 (unless it comes at the bargain price ) rather than the 320 NEO?

If it’s one type rating, it allows the company scheduling flexibility
