We still don't know what the mission will be. If it involves a bunch of red eyes from the west coast it will be a new hire aircraft for sure.

Well let me (not so) boldly predict it will include both redeyes and covering all 3 airports at completely uncommutable times (except when returning from a redeye, I'm sure Carmen will make sure those are all mid-rotation). No thanks.

I missed that. Where are the booths and postcards?

I hope they displace off the 717 -- so I can VD to the 737/320 on this tiny Fall AE.

Were you on property when the 717 came around?

Actually yes. Only a small amount of pilots live in NYC or LA and most in both bases will be commuters. Its far easier for most pilots to commute to NYC vs LA.

i'd like to pretend i knew about today's announcement but I had no idea....not surprised though.

Relatively speaking I guess. But things are changing rapidly and new hires are getting LA, and SEA and SLC are going more and more junior. Once they grow the west coast enough, it will be jam packed with new hires, most commuters, who don't want to be there, and will bid out ASAP to include a sizable amount greater than NYC, which is far closer and an easier commute to a significant majority of commuters.

I was not, but I'm guessing you are thinking of the anomaly of the first group of pilots bidding to the aircraft to hopefully get trained and then sit and get paid until the airplanes actually show up.

I have no doubts that that will also happen with the CS100, but after that first wave it will go junior for FO's. I see very few people bidding to the 717.
