C.E. Woolman is said to have ordered DC-9s from Donald Douglas by telephone.

Yes, but he added them to the price of the DC-9.

To be honest, I'd be happy if we get in August and not in 2020.
Korean's first aircraft was due to be delivered in Sept, but they wanted two spare engines with it. It will now be delivered in Dec. They were scheduled for four this year, but will likely only get the one...

I would like DAL to get the Cs ASAP.

I just needed a flight to get home from IAH. I was planning to fly on DAL, then found out they had a CRJ IAH-MSP. AA, my second choice, also had an RJ IAH-ORD. I flew on UAL because they had a 737-900 IAH-ORD. It is somewhat better than the ERJ-145/CRJs. I did notice that it did not have power receptacles, like the AA 737-900s have, and the TV seatback screen was pay per view. I do NOT like flying UAL at all!

I would STRONGLY prefer the Bombadier C, or the E-170/195 family.

There will be an important hearing in February that will be used to determine if Boeing was financially harmed by the Delta CSeries deal. Although Boeing did not have a competing aircraft to offer at the 100-120 seat range (and it offered used Air Canada E190s), Boeing is claiming financial harm. If it cannot prove this harm, I believe the tariffs will go away. If that happens, perhaps Delta will not need to wait for production out of Mobile. No doubt the hearing will be super-political. Time will tell in terms of the result.

In the near term, Pratt & Whitney needs to get its act together and catch up with GTF engine production.

Cliff - with all of your worldwide travel, have you flown on the SWISS CS100/300 or Air Baltic CS300 yet?

Rumor that decision has been made on the current narrow body RFP. It awaits board approval. Rumor included that in order for Boeing to be considered they had to drop their C series objections.
