That's assuming your speed goes below V alpha Prot. Alpha floor being predictive, it should engage before your speed gets that slow. (At least in the Sim it always does! )
But you are right about the possible AP disconnection and I am not disagreeing. Though I think we are being a little too conservative.
It works beautifully. Aas soon as you hear "windshear", engage the AP and just watch Fifi work for you.

True. I've encountered a microburst on the line, and it would have been a disengagement. Glad I was already in front of it and got to sense myself achieving full back stick and call it out instead of "******, it's off, better haul back!" That's an extra second when seconds count!

Airbus has two windshear escape maneuvers. They specifically state auto pilot off for the EGPWS windshear alert.

EGPWS WARNING ESCAPE MANEUVER

PF
1 Accomplished Simultaneously
THRUST:
“TOGA”
- Set TOGA thrust
PITCH:
- Autopilot - disconnect
- Roll wings level
- Rotate to full back sidestick

2 CONFIGURATION
- Verify speedbrakes are in
- Do not alter gear/flap configuration until terrain clearance is assured

3 Climb to safe altitude

4 AFTER EGPWS RECOVERY
- Resume normal flight

I think Delta goes autopilot off for both to keep it simple.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the EGPWS is related to windshear alerts on the Bus. Reactive windshear alerts are generated by the FAC and Predictive windshear alerts by the weather radar.
I don't remember having read anywhere that the aircraft could not fly the windshear correctly. I think it either flies it or it doesn't when the autopilot disconnects. By any chance, do you remember where you read that Airbus recommends the AP off?

Interesting. is it from a 330 FCOM? The A330 has a FMGEC (E standing for envelope) that fullfils the role of the FAC's on the 320. Maybe the windshear function is done by the EGPWS but I don't think so. I don't have my 330 FCOM anymore.
My 320 FCOM (6 month old revision) lists two windshear escape maneuvers, one for reactive and the other for predictive. Both recommends to keep the AP if engaged.

You talking about predictive vs. reactive windshear, sailing?

If he is, the response to a predictive wind shear (WINDSHEAR AHEAD) is to perform a go-around.

AP off and full escape is not required unless you get the reactive warning (e.g. EGPWS- which generates it with inputs from the FACs (FMGECs on the 330) and ADIRUs), or if you satisfy the conditions that necessitate a full windshear escape maneuver.

I'm glad I got all my serious flying out of the way before they invented windshear.

I’d hate to de-rail a thread here, but any update on the CS? 😁

Plan on a roughly 2 year delay unless the tariff issue is "reasonably" resolved in the February hearing.
