Things don't appear to be shaping up well for 2018 staffing, the May bid was too big, and should have been spread over several months. I think it's too soon to call it a crisis, but there will be fallout from the delays in training and aircraft deliveries. We will retire almost 400 pilots between now and the end of 2018, that amount to double in coming years, there has been no relief from the FAA on the MD88 FANS lack of capability, and our regionals struggle to complete flights for a lack of pilots, and we are about to ask more of them. It's not out of the question that we'll see vacations cancelled, staffing levels below contractual levels, and more pressure to fly while sick or fatigued, and further shifting of routes and flying to JV partners to cover the coming shortage.

You can't just put 1/3 of the pilot force into training at once. As time goes by without any AE's, the backlog only increases, and the trickle down effect will grow. 2 year seat locks may become unrealistic.
With our disparate fleet types, it's multiplied even more. The lack of communication from the company at this point is concerning, and it points towards a lack of a coherent plan going forward. I don't know what we as pilots can do to mitigate the fallout, other than hope that DALPA has a plan to enforce what protections we do have in the contract. I think 2018 is going to be an "interesting" year in the Chinese sense of the word...
i am surprised that we got the "Top Men" info on Friday, but the company has still remained silent even when the AE was due out today.

If they don’t bring it up it’ll just go away!

Facebook rumors appear to be more accurate than any official announcements.

Yes, that's $87.00, not $87M $8.7M.
