Who is taking our 350 delivery positions that we deferred?
Was that manager letting the cat out of the bag on a strategy to be used later?
If all these carriers were to fly the Delta widget livery would we still have a place in the new Delta conglomerate? (ref. 1.E.9.)
The timeline of the 5 way airline mega deal coincided with the A350 deferal/A321 order deal with Airbus. These kinds of deals and decisions don't happen overnight or in a vacuum. All known variables were taken into consideration by management as they crafted these deals that involve multiple entities. Who knows how long they were working on the situation they have created? But more importantly, now that that foundation stone has been placed, what are they currently working on that is not known to anyone outside the executive suites of the new conglomerate?

Sailing is correct here so...

There are plenty of deferred A350 positions. Just Delta, UAL and AMR have cancelled or deferred enough to supply anyone who wants aircraft in the 2018 to 2020 timeframe. A bigger question for us is will Airbus be able to deliver the A330-900 to us as promised. Still has not flown and our first delivery is 18 months away.

I am not quite sure what your other two questions are. The 10 A350's were deferred because we were unable to negotiate and set up the joint venture in Shanghai. We don't need the range for Korea so they will convert them to A330-900's for 50 million each less. In fact it was hinted at one of the ops roadshows they would have cancelled them all if we could have. They had planned 15 flights a day into Shanghai on our metal. Many requiring two airframes because of the length. That did not pan out so now we go to Korea. Maybe we will get combat pay on those flights.
