Here’s what the contract says about a canceled AE (Sec.22.E.15):
If an AE is canceled by the Company, the pilot may:
a. displace any junior pilot who holds an unconverted AE,
b. displace a junior pilot from a category the junior pilot converted into pursuant to an AE awarded concurrent with or after the canceled AE, or
c. by mutual agreement between the pilot and the Company, extend the effective date of the AE up to 31 days.
If an AE is canceled by the Company, the pilot will give the Company written notice of his selection from the options provided in Section 22 E. 15. within ten days of his receipt of the cancellation notice. If the pilot does not give the Company such notice within such ten day period, he will be ineligible to exercise any such option.

So does that mean I can go back to my current seat with no seat lock

My initial question to you would be: How did you get an AE if you have a seat lock lock? I can see it for initial upgrade to Captain so...........I’m making an educated guess that says yes. I got displaced once while I still had a freeze and was re-instated before I ever went to training (on the displaced to acft). I was never converted onto the new acft. My freeze, of which I had over a year left, evaporated.

If you bid a new category, any existing seat freeze "goes away" and you simply get the freeze associated with the new category AE.
If you bid Captain for the 1st time, any existing seat freeze will be added on to the freeze associated with your Captain award unless you are bidding to a new category.
If you are a new hire and bid to anything but a new category while you have any part of your 24 month new hire sest freeze remaining (i.e., new hire assigned NYC7ERB and AEs after the first 12 months to SLC A320B), that remaining portion will be tacked onto your new seat freeze.
Clear as mud??

There ya go! I didn’t think about that one. If an AE bid is cancelled, I do think you end up with no seat lock on your previous aircraft. IIRC on the initial AE/Displacement page in icrew it shows your most future category and the freeze associated with that. When the most future category goes away, so does your freeze. At least that’s what happened to me when I was re-instated before being converted to the new category. This was about 3/4 years ago.

Not exactly. First time captain on new category does not add the two freezes. You only take the new freeze.
Edit: disregard you said that, I just didn't read far enough
