Oooooffffff!!!!!

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/business/3060926/united-airlines-may-have-pay-1-billion-damages/

EXCLUSIVE — United Airlines may be forced to pay upwards of $1 billion after a federal court ruled to grant nationwide class action status to over 2,200 employees who were placed on unpaid leave for choosing not to get vaccinated against COVID-19 during the pandemic.

A judge in the Northern District of Texas, fifth circuit, ruled on Friday that all United Airlines employees put on unpaid leave despite having a religious exemption to the vaccine can join Sambrano v. United Airlines, making the case one of the largest religious discrimination class action lawsuits in history.

“I’ve never seen anything this big,” Sherry Walker, co-founder of Airline Employees for Health Freedom, told the Washington Examiner. Walker is one of 2,211 class members on the lawsuit.

Anything quoting her is the equivalent of a National Enquirer headline.

Those people are lucky they have their jobs.

The National Enquirer saying Justin Bieber fathered a child with Bigfoot would be more accurate than the vax boys have been the last 3-4 years.

With that said, its still too early and I have my doubts, but I don't think Scott Kirby is as confident as you guys seem to be. There's been plenty of lawsuits in the past year go in the employees favor (in the private sector). The latest was yesterday...

Nearly $700k total. $177k in back pay. $500k in punitive damages. Her story is slightly different in that she was actually fired, but she was awarded back pay and damages nonetheless. The United employees in the lawsuit kept their jobs, but they were not paid any wages and also lost all benefits. That is a far cry from the legal requirement that they "must be given REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS". Again, I think its a little too early to be a slam dunk in either direction.

Not to mention that the legal costs will continue to accrue until the case is settled. The only sure winners are the lawyers.

I agree 100%. But I also wouldn't be surprised if United wants this over quickly. I think the longer this goes on there will be more and more similar cases go in the plaintiffs favor that can be used as precedent, evidence, and a stronger case for the United employees.

Orrrr, I could be way off. I get most of my news from the national enquirer.
