LUBBOCK, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott was in Lubbock on March 2 for a statewide announcement.
Abbott addressed small business and community leaders of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce during the conference.
The governor also announced that he will reopen Texas at 100%.
"Every business that wants to be open should be open," Abbott said.
The governor said Texans have mastered the daily habits it takes to prevent catching COVID-19. This combined with the record number of vaccines being distributed in the state will help with the reopening of the state.
He also said he would be issuing an executive order rescinding multiple previous executive orders from the beginning of the pandemic.
Additionally as of next Wednesday, the statewide mask mandate will be rescinded.

This may not be a popular comparison, but Texas is about to be the Rosa Parks of Covid-19. If their covid situation doesn’t significantly change for the worse in the next month, I think there will be a lot more states following in Texas’ footsteps and a lot more individual people demanding change.

Worst comparison ever...Texas is just going back to a previous status. No biggie. If it doesn't work they will shut down again.

No, they won’t.
I don’t think it was a bad comparison - given the context he provided - that other states and their residents may (will hopefully) use the move to build the confidence needed to make a stand of their own. Spot on, in fact.

Going back to a previous condition that 99% of people agree is going to happen isn't much of a stand...and if u think it is a high bar.....then there not much to say about that.
