Let me fix that for you.

It shows they are aware of things going on in the world and respect strangers enough to inconvenience themselves or check to make sure the other person is comfortable being close or unmasked before making someone feel unsafe or uncomfortable. You never know someone’s risk, or experience or level of comfort with it so starting at the top feels more “human” to me. I feel a greater connection and ability to work with or interact someone like that rather than someone with an exposed nose, or chin diaper, or pulling it down to talk or cough.

I’m sure y’all are eager to call me a wuss for that but I think there is something to be said for the positive human aspect of masking as well.
This has got to be the biggest crock of ****** I've ever read on this forum.

I’m sorry, i tried being polite before. But you come here to debate things and you clearly have no idea what you’re taking about.

Dude if you respect someone because they put on their mask when you walk by each other on the street, you’re respecting people for all the wrong reasons..

That is the most insane type of ignorance of how covid spreads that is causing people to fear social interaction with strangers.

The irony is that you say, “I respect them because they know what’s going on.”
LOL. Neither of you clowns know what is going on. Literally please just do a google search and you’ll see how far off base your logic is.

I’m going to assume you think you’re doing the right thing because Fauci said that he does that very thing when he walks by someone.

Well, Fauci is an idiot. A medical expert should never have said that

Ok and with your countless hours of shuttling folks from A to B up in the sky, you have all the qualifications to call the CDC idiots how? What about the other medical experts that have called for social distancing? Are they idiots who should have never said it too? I think there’s a big disconnect here. These people that are making you cringe so much are not doing it because they’re against your scientific views, they’re doing it because they’re obeying the “rules” in that particular town. Those rules are set there for a reason. You think you’re being a free thinker but really you’re just being obnoxious for the rest. Move to an area that has people that think just like you, until then respect the mandates. It’s not about you.

Just a respectful contrarian view. The very best and brightest in any field do not traditionally go into and/or stay in government, neither Doctors or Lawyers or Accounants. The very best get poached pretty quickly. And regardless of whether it’s a D or R our elected leadership aren’t necessarily the brightest nor put the public’s interest ahead of their own personal ambitions or goals. These realizations are fairly well accepted by most of the population and is what produces a “healthy skepticism” which is a trait that is encouraged in the flight deck. So when skepticism of “the rules” rears its ugly gear recognize that is where it is coming from!

Which brings up the question, why is an 80-year bureaucrat who hasn’t practiced field medicine in this job and has been for 36 years. There needs to be an “up and out” process.

Knob, you have to learn to think for yourself. Why do you belittle your own critical thinking skills so much? Did your parents not teach you to question things? You are a capable human being, you don’t need to be led through life by others.

When every known medical agency says that in order to catch COVID, you need prolonged exposure (close contact, 15 min in a 24hr period) in order to even be at “moderate risk” of catching covid, there is no need to put on a mask walking by someone.
Fauci knows this, he told the world to do it anyway

Not disagreeing in principle and what you wrote has been the guidance pretty much from early on in this pandemic. However, the new variants appear to be quite significantly more contagious and and to more relatively young and healthy people ending up in hospital. Here in Europe the "British variant" (B1.1.7) is now dominant and not have case numbers been rising but also ICU bed occupancy. So much so that the association of intensive care and emergency medical care doctors in Germany are urging the government to implement a hard lock down in order to stop the trend and prevent overload. So since this British variant is more transmissible it may not take 15 minute of close contact in an enclosed space to get infected.
