Borrowing from the National Popular Vote website:

The origins of the myth about big cities may stem from the misconceptions that big cities are bigger than they actually are, and that big cities account for a greater fraction of the nation’s population than they actually do. In fact, 85% of the population of the United States lives in places with a population of fewer than 365,000 (the population of Arlington, Texas—the nation’s 50th biggest city).

This is easily verifiable via census data.

This is a bit of an eye chart, but this shows many of the states discussed in this (and other) threads.

Anybody notice the commonality on this chart?

More POC voted Republican this past year than in any election previously. Blacks, Hispanics, Asians.

Of course, you don’t actually care about them. You do your own Pearl clutching while pointing your slimy, limp wristed fingers at the rest of us.

The topic is masks, keeping the thread in mind, I watched idiocies today that reflect the common belief that COVID, a contagious respiratory not unlike the common cold in transmission characteristics, is in fact some super virus with transmission characteristics of sarin gas.

Why would someone:
  1. Wear a mask outdoors in the rain with a 20mph wind blowing, not another soul in 100 yards?
  2. Wear a mask alone in a sealed up car
  3. Wear a mask outside in that same 20mph wind ordering an ice cream cone, again the other person was my 20’ away, crosswind?
  4. Wear a mask indoors, all alone scooping ice cream and serving it thru a sliding window?
  5. Why does mentioning “I’m fully vaccinated” get a shrug when all the science says that’s pretty good protection? If vaccination was supposed to be the solution, it doesn’t look that way at a Quest Diagnostics office?
Does “science” mean anything? Transmission requires more than a 30 second casual contact from 10’ but people think it’s a death sentence, it’s not.

The Missionary Bush Pilot (great YT channel, btw) was asked in an interview about COVID in PNG. He’s answer was classic, paraphrasing, “with TB and Malaria, COVID is pretty much in the background and not a thought given. This is a first world problem for people who grew up thinking nothing could endanger their safe little box.

It’s so incredibly out of touch with reality. All the leading experts not just here but around the world along with the majority of countries have went into lockdowns as well as health mandates. Your experiment would have destroyed the country. Literally. You can not have a functioning society in a free for all pandemic. Nobody in their right mind who is 18 to 65 would go along with your plan of getting them infected so that Timothy doesn’t have to suffer another online class. Don’t you guys ever wonder why there’s only 6 of you here spouting the same thing while the rest of humanity around the world wore masks, social distanced, followed what was required and tried to put an end to this? I love how some guy gets on here because he can’t take the BS anymore and he gets accused of being a fake profile, the delusion is actually not that surprising.

Total, unmitigated male bovine fecal matter. It’s not about me in the least as I’ve made very clear. You’re twisting words, exaggerating posts to serve your idealogy. I’ve consistently said, I follow the rules, wear masks if only to humor the snowflakes common hears outs, remain distanced, got vaccinated, I’m in a vulnerable age group—68. I certainly don’t want the certainty of someone dying so I can go out without a mask. The damage done for certain to our social fabric wasn’t worth the RISK of potentially high final death toll is still my position. It’s about trade-offs, about costs and rewards. We’ve heard “science says no masks”, we’ve had people hear they’re great but people aren’t diligent in using them and they’ll do more harm than good, then it was “wear masks even if you’re surfing alone”. Vaccines are the solution, oh wait, they are but they’re not. Does this sound like science? It sounds more like ideological politics based on tribal instincts.

“Who’s on our team and who’s agin us” isn’t science.

1. Integrity / to set a good example / it doubles as a neat little scarf.
2. Uber / food delivery and avoiding touching your face every time someone gets in or out.
3. Respect / what if there is someone downwind of that crosswind.
4. Now you’re just being silly. Food safety for the person you are serving it to, just in case this was a real question.
5. This will likely change once it has been studied further to ensure that vaccinated individuals are not carriers. For now though why not err on the side of caution. But again as with all of them....integrity. I am vaccinated but still wear a mask, even in the flight deck, out of respect and to set an example and prove that there is no reason why people can’t just do the right thing, care about others and wear your mask. If there is a chance it will help. I’ll do it.

That's great! I don't care who you vote for. One person = one vote.

But don't come at me with your lame insults and not acknowledge that the GOP is doing everything in its power to disenfranchise urban voters while empowering wealthy suburban and rural voters.

You just can't deny it. I don't care how many names you call me. How's your mom?

  1. There’s no points for setting a good example by walking alone in rain masked—it’s just fear
  2. Uber deliveries in a Lexus SUV? Really?
  3. No one has shown ice cream can transmit viruses, if so, why haven’t we been wearing masks in every restaurant for the last 50 years. The stand hasn’t done used masks for the decade I’ve gone there, They didn’t do that even in Asia.
  4. Integrity is now virtue signaling? Show me a study proving masks stop vaccinated people from transmitting a disease, please. If vaccines didn’t stop transmission, they wouldn’t work very well.

Can you give me specific examples of these disenfranchisements?

TIA.
