Sorry, man. No facts in your post at all. Zero. Just your opinions, guesses and a question. Nothing you said above is a verifiable fact.
We all know the lone surfer was not a grandma killer and I'd be quite surprised if anyone here was happy to see him get arrested.
It's almost painful to watch how some of you guys enjoy collectively beating on one poster who has opposing views. That's not the American way guys. Calling the one who disagrees the village idiot etc. Look, I don't agree with everything he says but to accuse him of not having an opinion of his own and barely repeating what he was told is too easy. Everyone should realize that we are all biased and our views are never based just on facts alone but also influenced by fears, emotions, desires. Those in turn are influenced by our experiences, the people we surround ourselves with and the media. That's true wether one consumes main stream media or alternative media.
I can see how it might feel good to think one knows more than those fed lies by mainstream media but please realize you may be fed other lies by other sources. It may feel good mocking science and the experts but it doesn't make it right.
We are all experts in our fields and we wouldn't want this mocked. Our profession is a technically one. We should value science. We should value experts. We are experts and we rely on other experts such as aircraft designers, mechanics and ATC to be professional, too.
Does that mean we should blindly accept anything any scientist tells us? Of course not. But when a majority of scientists can agree on something then it probably means the facts available at the time support that view and not a different one. Yes, they do get it wrong but science does correct itself. It's not a religion based on belief.
And once again, all those conspiracies are helping no one. They also don't make sense. Politicians and the governments can't be incompetent and at the same time orchestrating a huge conspiracy.
It seems much more likely to me that any political failures were a result of incompetence rather than conspiracy.
Most scientists spreading bad science not based on facts are either bad scientists or think they are saying the wrong things for the right reasons. I'm sure that happens. In journalism too by the way. It's not good and needs to be called out when it happens but let's not paint all scientists, journalists, politicians with the same brush. They are human beings just like us and I'm sure most of them want to do the right thing. We don't have to agree with them but we should keep it respectful. Just like we should do when interacting with those we disagree with. In real life and in the internet.

You don’t have an opposing view. The view that you supposedly think is your own, has been downloaded to you via whatever mainstream sources you use. You didn’t actually come up with an opinion, you just think you did. You are one of those people that was yelling to stay home, save lives because “the experts” said so. Did you cheer when that evil selfish surfer got arrested for being alone in the ocean? I bet you did, don’t try to hide it. Grandma killer he was! Come on man, don’t act like you have a single thought of your own in that head of yours. I bet you started double masking the second they came out with that recommendation. No insults here man, just straight facts.

You’re confusing free thinking with not wanting to be told what to do. That’s perfectly ok if the government tells you you’re only allowed 1 type of a haircut as a male but not when it comes to the health of the citizens in a pandemic. Justifying your real notion of infringement on your rights to do whatever you want, with not listening to the health officials which are in charge of policies that save our lives, is not free thinking. You’re just undermining a real and serious pandemic. Don’t worry this is just my opinion. Let me hear it, I’m ready.

You're confusing group think with informed rational opinions.
You think because some politicians and doctors who haven't treated a patient in decades and work as bureaucrats told you certain things work and they are based in science that is is true and certain.
Zap mentioned in another thread that Hungary is looking pretty bad right now. Hungary has been in total lock down since November. No pubs, no restaurants, no gatherings, and a curfew. Zero tolerance. Since that started their cases have gone through the roof. What evidence is there that those restrictions did anything? I'll help you out, none. The only thing we can know for sure is that those people are locked totally down and faring worse than other people who are opening up. No one can know for sure why they are having problems but we certainly cannot say they are better off for being in complete lock down. Their cases have done the opposite of other countries and that rise started when the lock down started. I am not implying that the lock down caused the rise but there is no evidence that it helped stop any cases either.

Nobody gets COVID from outdoor casual encounters and, rarely from indoor, well ventilated encounters. You need much closer contact than walking by somebody.

You can't be too careful.

Just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I quite enjoyed "National take off that stupid mask" day in the great state of Texas. I went into a coffee shop this morning, dawning a mask out of legal habit, and an old man (80+) looked at me and said "you can take that thing off now, you know." I immediately obliged.
It was delightful. Someone must have forgotten to let him know that he was supposed to die a while back with the Rona.

As far as mask protocol in Texas today, the only public interaction I had was I dropped my car off for service at a small shop this morning and they were still doing the mask thing this morning. This afternoon when I picked my car back up, they were masking no more. It felt nice going back to normal.
