This is how you know this has all turned political. The original argument was about how it would no longer be a headlining theme and hyped to induce fear.
I just went through my news feeds. COVID was the 42nd article on Apple News. 35th on Google News. CNN was 25. FoxNews was 38th.
But you found an article using Google? Congratulations?

100k cases a day and 1000 dead per day now. They’ll probably see the next week or so if people take the surge seriously and if not they’ll start shutting things down rest of the year. It will be interesting to see now that POTUS lost if he cares anymore about Covid politics.

This will very likely be a landslide victory. 306-223 sound familiar? This president called his last victory a landslide no less than 12 times. “Sleepy Joe” the “worst candidate ever” sat in his basement flipped several states and annihilated Trump.
The highest turnout in history. The largest popular vote margin in history. The first female, woman of color VP.
So yeah, I’d say it’s bigger news than COVID at this minute. COVID will be back as soon as people figure out he has no chance of invalidating enough votes.

If we are detecting trace amounts of dead virus and calling that a case with the resulting expectation of the person to isolate, then I am not sure how that is helpful. For what I have read, 35-37 seems more appropriate. More importantly, a single standard for counting a case should be held nationwide as well as worldwide. Running 40 cycles to find a positive seems to do little but pad case numbers and can explain why cases have risen dramatically while hospitalizations and deaths have only seen a small increase.
