Serious question for you and the rest that say "science" and "data" and all of this with regards to masks.
Can you point me to one actual scientific study, based on causation rather than just correlation, that validates the claim that cloth masks are contributing to a reduction in spread of the virus? And please, I mean something with numbers like "XX% less spread" where the conditions are controlled enough to attribute this observed improvement DIRECTLY to the use of masks? And before you do, please don't link me to some newspaper article summarizing a study, or don't give me some comparison between "countries that wear masks and those that don't" because, quite frankly, I have a magic brick in my house that prevents elephant attacks - haven't even seen an elephant since I got that brick. I want actual science, not what passes for media science.

The only large study on masks has been silenced so far.
I will say it again:
If you are wearing one mask for an entire day, taking it off to eat, taking it off when not required, touching surfaces then the mask or your face, touching it to adjust the fit, and "gasp" using the same mask for days without washing it in HOT water you are probably increasing your chances of contracting the virus.

Lead by example when you can't lead by policy.
25,000 people at a MAGA rally ain't that.
Not wearing a mask ain't that.
Riding around Walter Reed while Covid positive ain't that.
Making fun of masks ain't that.
Un-distanced events on the WH lawn ain't that.
Insulting the country's top infectious disease expert ain't that.
Seeking the guidance of Scott Atlas (a radiologist) to lead a national pandemic response ain't that.
It goes on and on. Anyone who has been in a leadership position understands that example "trumps" policy every time. He has poisoned the well so thoroughly that 40% of the country will never wear a mask, never take a vaccine, and never behave respectfully toward the other 60% no matter who ends up in charge.
This thing is going to run its course no matter how ugly it gets.

That never happened, only Chinese citizens NOT immediate family members of US citizens, on direct flights from China. Flights did not "stop" like you claim. Maybe as passenger load reduced, they were cut back, but they weren't "banned". US citizens traveling from China to the US and immediate non-citizen family members were free to come here and infect. There plenty of other exclusions too, check the order from the white house below. 300,000 had come from China in the previous month, some other good information in the below links.
You also have to consider the effectiveness of what was done, combined with how vectors can easily pass on at intermediary stops, so all the places that Chinese flights operate to that then have connecting flights to the US on different carriers...

Heck, here's the actual order:

It would be illegal for a President to attempt to prevent a citizen or permanent resident from entering the US. Nationals of other countries are the only people the US government has the authority to restrict entry.
Please stop insisting that the President do illegal things to make you feel safer or happier.

Should I post the Nancy vid of her in Chinatown telling people to "come on down"(while not wearing a mask.....shame, she should've known better right?) or have we seen that one enough?
Here's a nice quote from The WHO for you:
The head of the W.H.O. team that visited China said this week that China “took one of the most ancient strategies and rolled out one of the most ambitious, agile and aggressive disease-containment efforts in history.”
The W.H.O.’s epidemic-modeling teams concluded that travel restrictions had slowed the spread of the virus outside China by two to three weeks.
For the United States, the delay was probably far greater. Air-traffic data shows that flights from China to the United States dropped much more than they did to Europe.
As of this writing, a single case not connected to any known transmission has turned up in California, but there are no indications of large outbreaks like those in Italy and Iran.

POTUS wearing, promoting, and yes (gasp) even requiring masks would have FAR, FAR eclipsed the combined effect of everything mentioned above put together. Even HIS CDC chief said masks were likely more effective than a vaccine. Masks certainly work better on anti-vaxxers (although they seem to make up a big portion of the anti-maskers as well). I suppose if you reject science, you reject science.
Weird how everyone here takes a lot of science in stride when invisible forces cause their 300,000lb airplane to leave terra firma.

How did you come to that conclusion?
I think he's making the point that POTUSes in general, does have the ability to exert political pressure on the states.. .

Now all that said. The leadership of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Russia, Argentina....The list goes on. The outcomes in those countries mirror, or is worse than the US. If Trump was so incompetent in his response why are other countries just as bad?

Yes, a bunch of "feel good" items really would've shut the virus down. Get real. He made decisions and put policies in place that were measurable and good for the American people. Sick and tired of people being mad at trump because he hurts people's feelings or doesn't watch his words because someone will be offended. If WW2 happened tomorrow instead of when it did we would be screwed because the spirit of this country has been eroded by people who want everything delivered with kid gloves and policies made in order to make people feel good instead of doing what is needed or works.
