I, and many others, basically already said this but here we go. Article dated October 27

Fox News: https://www.foxnews.com/health/us-se...s-deaths-again

Coronavirus deaths in the U.S. are on the rise once again.....

The average number of deaths per day is up 10% over the last two weeks, the Associated Press reported, citing data from Johns Hopkins University. As of Sunday, deaths were up from 721 to nearly 794.

.....The seven-day rolling average for daily new cases hit a record high on Sunday of 68,767, according to Johns Hopkins, eclipsing the previous mark of 67,293, set in mid-July. The U.S. recorded more than 80,000 new cases on both Friday and Saturday — the highest marks ever — though testing has expanded dramatically over the course of the outbreak, making direct comparisons problematic. The true number of infections is thought to be far higher because many Americans have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected without feeling sick.

According to the Texas COVID-19 tracking dashboard, as of 10/27, Dallas and Tarrant counties comprise 2 of the top 3 counties in the state reporting 93,939 and 58,255 COVID cases, respectively.

The CDC reporting dashboard shows that over the past 7 days, Texas leads the nation with new reported COVID cases of 38,548.

Texas sticks to its motto of everything is bigger in Texas.

Well Id imagine that to be the case as Dallas and Tarrant counties are also the 2nd and 3rd most populace with a massive drop off after the 4th most. Do you think Harris county is #1 in cases?I’d bet my paycheck on it.

I would bet that also. However, the poster I was respndoing to said they had things under control in the North Texas counties and cited a LOCAL school, etc., as evidence.
One of the Poster's Quotes:

"Where I live, kids have been back in school for 10 weeks with no surge in cases. The school where my wife works still has 0 students and 0 staff get infected. All youth sports have been going on for 3 months now with no surge in cases. We’ve had Octoberfest and homecoming with no surge in cases. Restaurants are open and staff and patrons have stopped wearing masks with no surge in cases. Churches have been open with no surge in cases. Why can’t everyone else get their **** together?"

With statements like that, no wonder Texas is leading the nation in COVID cases on the 7 day moving average and the data for North Texas COVID cases contradicts the poster's comments based off of "living it", "no surge in cases."
To get a true picture, a look outside of a local school, sports porgram or immediate county(s) is necessary.

That’s really meaningless and doesn’t prove anything.
I’m having to repeat myself for the third or fourth time and I need to focus? You provided data for an area I don’t live. Repeating yet again, I never said there were no COVID preventions taking place, only that some restaurants weren’t enforcing. I went on about our schools showing they are doing things correctly. I am providing first hand information about how things are going where I live. If first hand isn’t good enough for you I don’t have anything else to add.

Well he does appear to be wrong doesn’t he.

I’ve said this on another thread but It’s amazing how “normal” the world seems during most people’s day to day life. I live in a “hotspot” and you’d never tell other than there are a few less cars driving around. The media makes it sound like there are bodies stacked in the street around here.

Yes because having no surge in the schools after they have been back in person since August must mean things are going terribly wrong.

Understand that. Why I try to view the big picture and rely on valid data, some common sense and don’t lock into some rigid mind set that some seem to always try to justify in any manner regardless of source or substance.

In a literal sense, no he is not. Do you know what literal means?

We are being advised to mask up between bites for cripes sakes, as in masking immediately immediately immediately (in the words of Mel Brooks.)

This clearly shows me folks are out to defend the home team, not engage in the larger discourse.
