Keep denying a pandemic it’s working so well.
Where I live, kids have been back in school for 10 weeks with no surge in cases. The school where my wife works still has 0 students and 0 staff get infected. All youth sports have been going on for 3 months now with no surge in cases. We’ve had Octoberfest and homecoming with no surge in cases. Restaurants are open and staff and patrons have stopped wearing masks with no surge in cases. Churches have been open with no surge in cases. Why can’t everyone else get their **** together?

glad the death count has not risen.

disappointed the case count has gone higher. why are more being infected? more infections = lockdowns and business closures

new cases will soon exceed July highs.

"we are testing more" yes that is great. that is like saying one plane in the fleet has the wrong nose tire. "just 1, nothing to worry about boys." also, "zero tire blowouts on landing" as a result of this incorrect tire.

then MX checks more. "found that 5 more planes have the wrong tire." Pilots are told, well we are testing more, so don't worry about it. We are bound to find more wrong tires. dumbfounded pilot group is reminded "remember, zero tire blowouts on landing, see this chart right here"

then soon, the entire fleet is determined to have the wrong nose tire. why? what organizational change or process change is needed to prevent this?

why is case count rising?

why?

You've mentioned this several times, and it definitely seems interesting that wherever you live in the US is doing all of those things while not having increased cases. Where is that, generally speaking?

Several sources are saying the current spike is being driven by rural communities, ie places that haven’t been hit before.

Im really not sure why you cannot see how increased testing numbers would lead to increased case numbers.

If the percentage of positive tests remain constant(it has since Early August) and you administer more tests(1-1.2 million a day now up from 4-600k a day in June) then obviously cases will rise......How can one not see this?

It isn’t just him. My governor was filling his shorts about the high rate of test positives early on when testing was quite limited, and screaming his head off about the need for more test availability. We got that and rate of positives went down but then he was screaming about the number of positives going up.

Did he seriously think that increased testing availability was going to somehow push the numbers down? That somehow a bunch of negative tests would somehow cancel out the positive ones?

I swear, poli sci degrees are worthless.

And the beat goes on...

You are truncating the data in both images. Both daily cases and death are trending up, as are hospitalizations.

Also, the term that is telling is positivity rate. This is the percentage of tests that are positive, and normalizes the data. The positivity rate is increasing:

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/testing/individual-states

I think both political parties are politicizing the data, and if you don’t want to be lumped into that category you should avoid doing the same. You either don’t understand the data, or are purposely presenting an incorrect narrative.

Really? Where'd you get your data?

The only truncation is the cases and deaths before February which were too few to appear on the graph and the cases and deaths for today which isn’t over yet.

Do you know how to READ a graph? Learn how before you accuse someone of trying to distort data, OK?

Cases are trending up hugely and - in the last few days - deaths have started to trend up modestly, but this is nothing like the first wave in April when we were seeing three times the deaths with half the number of cases we have today, indicating either we are detecting more mild/asymptomatic cases, we have better treatment, there is been a decrease in viral virulence, or perhaps a combination of the above.
