Default Mitigation killed aviation but did it help?

Lots of different countries have tried lots of different mitigation. Ever wonder what kind of difference it makes. Doesn't seem to have any correlation to mitigation to me . . . but hey . . . that's me. Interesting note apparently Swede's voluntarily distanced and elderly stayed home but masks were not and are not commonly worn.

I would completely disagree. Widespread mask use and public policy do make a big difference. The USA has a COVID death rate of 63 per 100,000 while Germany has 11 per 100,000. Japan which is densely populated but has used masks even pre COVID has 1 death per 100,000. South Korea (400 deaths total) and China are way below these numbers but they use a more heavy handed approach that would not work in the United States. I would expect a Dartmouth graduate to look at the complete picture before coming to a conclusion.

Look at japan and South Korea obesity rates before you tell someone they aren't seeing the big picture.

Japan has about 1 death per 100,000 to our 63. Germany 11 deaths to our 63 per 100,000. Overall population health matters but age is the most predictive morbidity factor. I would note that both Germany and Japan have significantly older populations than the U.S. .

The US has, and has had one of the highest mask wearing rates in the world, more than double most of Europe. The US did so poorly with the virus because our healthcare system is massively corrupt.

It's so corrupt with social justice that instead of telling patients that they are morbidly obese, doctors have to ask people to reduce their levels of brave, you go girl etc. I mean we have to deny medical science in favor of not hurting people's feelings, that might literally kill them.

Science is only valid when it's not politically inconvenient. If it gets in the way of reality we should ignore it.

Some SJWs will call it "body shaming". Facts are facts and we got to this point due to the scale - the weight scale. We are a fat nation. Look at Belgium, same thing. Italy, old age and smokers. There are correlations. Until we in the US get "healthier" e.g. lose weight; we are going to continue see high rates of death from cancers, heart disease, diabetes and renal issues. Has nothing to do with the quality or availability of the medical care in this country. That's just BS.

No, we killed ourselves on this one, and took a bunch of collateral damage to appease a social media mob. Sad.

I saw the weight related death and dropped to my lightest weight since high school. Excess weight is a killer.

290 on 14 Feb.

What he said.

We have many cultural subsets here, and unfortunately many of them embrace substance abuse and gluttony, while staying as sedentary as possible.
