When your talking disease vectors a 777 has a lot more speed and range than a mosquito...

The point where it blows up in the FAA's face is when foriegn countries start mandating vaccination for arriving crew.

The union better make sure we get paid for taking the vaccine, and it's not required to be taken on a day off, but rather scheduled over a string of work days.

I’ve already had the virus I shouldn’t be required to have the vaccine as well

Can you prove it? Do you know how many people will use that excuse? Will border control in France believe the results of an American COVID test with our great track record? No one knows how long immunity lasts anyway. Odds are it last several years but after 12 months of lockdowns, what country is going to risk it?

No one will be forced to. But... there may be things you want to do that will require it.

I think Rick is on the right track.

Will we end up having to get stuck? Sooner or later, likely yes.

But until there is CLEAR guidance from the FAA, I don’t care what another country or my company says. Not doing it.

I think the FAA will wait at least a few months to see if the early adopters pop any concerning side effects or reactions. THEN they’ll give the thumbs up.

A vaccine passport. Already an internationally accepted document.

I was referring to the tests, not mitigation. The early state of testing in the US was terrible. Multiple companies making tests without quality control caused a higher error than the rest of the world. My point is why would a country accept test results when they can verify the accuracy of the test. It’s much easier to verify vaccination than it is to prove who already had it.

Default Good WaPo article discussing vaccine mandates

The gist was that it wasn’t going to happen under EUA status, and even when finally approved the current legal provisions under US laws would be sufficiently daunting they would recommend incentivizing employees getting immunizations rather than trying to mandate them. It would be cheaper than trying to negotiate the way through a legal morass of religious and claimed medical objections, particularly for certain ethnic groups who were once used as Guinea pigs by the CDC and have longstanding biases against them. I’m sure there will be employers that ignore that advice though.
