We can walk and chew gum at the same time though, right?
If we're actually going to "follow the science" and "follow the facts", we need to have an honest conversation about how we got "here".
You and WutGate think we got here due to malfeasance by the Trump Administration. Okay, cool, perhaps that's part of it...but it doesn't begin and end there. We have to consider culture, politics, geography, and a bazillion other factors...and a decent part of that equation is that we have a lazy, unhealthy population with zero incentive to make themselves healthier.
We're here now; we've got to cancel the Master Warning, run the checklist and get the plane on the ground...but at the same time we're working the problem we notify Dispatch who brings Maintenance Control into the loop and they begin trying to figure out the "why", and after the conclusion of the event a team decides on "why" figures out how to prevent it from happening again.
But this isn't an emergency in an aircraft, its a pandemic...
We also MUST look at the demographics of who is hospitalized, in the ICU, and dying from COVID and glean info about that for now and learn lessons from that for the future...but I suppose that requires a metaphor best left for a different post.
No, I'm not saying they should die because they are fat, I'm saying they experience worse health outcomes BECAUSE they are fat and have corresponding comorbidities like hypertension, high blood pressure and high blood sugar.
Calling a spade a spade and identifying casual factors to poor outcomes isn't victim shaming.

And not a peep from Herr Cheeto regarding these insane numbers as he continues to undermine democracy itself. Come to think of it, has he EVER expressed remorse or offered condolences for anything terrible that has happened during his tenure? Parkland, Vegas, etc.? Or was a “thoughts and prayers” tweet about the size of it? Honest question; the past four years have felt like a lifetime.

They’re dying from the pandemic. They wouldn’t have been dead otherwise. Try again.

ALL CAUSES DAILY DEATH CARD
So you were saying... a 50% increase, is it still not a big deal? Which card would you like to play next?

Oh goodie... we get to play downplay whack-a-mole! What is it this time? Oh you've played the ..
Well Kaputt, Excess deaths over the average 7,000 that you claim have been exceeded most of the year. (the average is actually higher in December) It takes a while for the CDC data to catch up, but it's safe to assume that we're experiencing 4,000 extra deaths per day for this week. So we're probably looking at 12,000+ deaths per day right now, or an increase of 50% over expected.

Hilarious. These people were otherwise immortal? Your claim would have been funny even without considering the median COVID-19 "death" is over 80 and with co-morbidities. C'mon man. Think. I know we don't like to think in these terms, but realistically, would you have sold any of these folks a low premium life insurance policy with a year to defer the payments?
