Vaccine Development Summary

That really is an apples to oranges comparison of diseases at it relates to rick’s post. For one, as far as I know HPV vaccination hasn’t been required. And two, I’d really like to hear the teacher’s argument that their students need to get an HPV vaccine to prevent the teachers from getting HPV.
As of April 2020, at least four jurisdictions (Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico) require HPV vaccination for school attendance. Hawaii will require the vaccine starting July 1, 2020. In Virginia the requirement is for girls only.
States also address HPV prevention through a variety of efforts, either through the executive branch or the legislature. In 2006, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services announced that it would provide the vaccine at no cost to girls under age 18. On February 2, 2007, Texas became the first state to issue a mandate—by executive order from the governor—that all girls entering the sixth grade receive the vaccine. A couple of months later, the legislature passed HB 1098 which overrode the executive order and the governor withheld his veto. In 2015, the Rhode Island Department of Health included HPV as a school entry requirement for seventh graders. The Department is authorized to do this without legislative approval.

Now THAT you might get people to go for. The problem you get into mandating that low risk kids take it to protect higher risk teachers is that the courts have historically held that if states are going to impair someone’s civil rights - even for good cause - what you do must be as narrowly tailored as possible to meet the cause.
it’s pretty easy to make the case that it’s a lot easier to protect a teacher by requiring the TEACHER to be immunized as a condition of employment than instead requiring 20 times as many kids to be immunized to protect the teacher. For that matter, unless ALL the teachers are immunized anyway, any unvaccinated teacher will STILL be at risk to catching it from an unvaccinated teacher.

not at all. The issue is whether one group at low risk ought to be compelled to get a vaccination mostly for the protection of a different group.
