J&J is going big... 100,000 people in phase-3, to ensure they obtain enough data to readily evaluate efficacy. Will also provide a better than normal phase-3 screen for safety issues.

It's nitpicking because it's still a lot of people and the largest amount of people in any current phase-3 trial, but it looks like the J&J trial will be 60,000 people. The "over 100k" mentioned seems to be referring to the cumulative number of volunteers across all current phase-3 trials.

J&J vaccine has good results in early-stage trials, unsure about response in older adults...

A vaccine that protects those who mostly won’t be harmed if they get it would seem to have limited utility.

Let us hope it proves better than that in phase 3.

It would have great utility if it works, is cheap, easy, and safe. They'd just have to keep working on for something else for the old folks while the rest of us get back to life (we support the old folks anyway).

The difficulty is vaccine acceptance.

For instance, more males are going to get HPV in their lifetimes (90%) than females (80%), yet more females Actually get the immunization than males. Why? Well, the Main reason for HPV immunizations is to keep the young ladies from getting cervical cancer and the guys aren’t going to get it regardless.

COVID immunizations appears to be a hard sell in current polling. A vaccine that works best on those who need it least is going to be a harder sell than one that works universally.

No need to limit it to one vaccine, there should be several options.

Also kind of hypothetical, they don't yet know it's efficacy for old folks, either way.

We support a wide selection of other folks (not old...whatever age range you think that is).
I would like to continue life going forward without supporting a broad range of folks that HAVE proven to be and will continue to be non-productive, by choice. Not going to happen though.
