Perhaps. But depends on natural immunity duration... if it wanes relatively quickly you might see more waves in the future, perhaps seasonal. Severity will almost certainly be lower in people who've had it before but it still has economic nuisance value if there's a big wave (sick calls). Even if the severity resembles the flu, there are still people who want (and some who really need) a vaccine for that.

Even Pfizer doesn't claim that it will be necessary at this point, they're preparing just in case.

Omicron is not different enough from the original strain to warrant a new vaccination campaign, a third, fourth, fifth, sixth dose of the current vaccine will accomplish the same thing. I suppose you could crank up the dosage of the Pfizer bnt162b2 from 30ug to 100ug in order to boost antibody levels as well. For people who have already been vaccinated, due to the almost identical RBD of omicron, your B cells will simply produce the same antibodies from the original vaccine due to Original Antigenic Sin anyway.

Anything a big pharma CEO says in public is not a public service announcement... it's a self-service announcement. You just don't know what his angle is.

Rick! Just when I’m ready to throw you out you post brilliance. Or maybe just common sense.

Moderna gets full FDA approval. Still not approved for <18, due to heart-inflammation concerns in young men.

Yes, and no. This article leave out much of the fine print.

Moderna will market this FDA approved vaccine as "Spikevax." The FDA in it's approval press release made it clear that "Spikevax" and it's EUA formulation are LEGALLY DISTINCT products. (even if literally the same stuff...legally, they're different)

Spikevax - FDA Approved
Moderna Covid vaccine - Still under an EUA, and Moderna is legally shielded from liability.

When will "Spikevax" be widely available in the US? Nobody knows. Maybe never. Why?

This is exactly what happened with the Pfizer initial EUA vaccine and the FDA approved "Comirnaty". 6 months after the "full approval" of Comirnaty, it's still not orderable in the US.

Just dotting I's and crossing T's. Many would be much happier if both Pfizer and Moderna destroyed the EUA versions and went with the FDA stuff.

It doesn’t matter which one you get, both are shielded from manufacturer liability due to the PREP act. Same goes with Pfizer. There is still the CICP which provides some relief. Even under normal times, once FDA approved, litigation is normal settled under the VICP instead of the manufacturer directly in the event of damages.

Default New study

Hey Rick, I came across this article and wanted to know what you thought of it. I tried to decipher the actual study but it was above my head.
