No dog in this fight, but I have a question:

I appreciate that some corporate employers will provide the right guy a lifestyle which no major can match; conversely; some will provide an experience which would be a downgrade for a regional guy on reserve.

Just looking at the Pro Pilot salary link, at FO pay rates in particular:

The heavy international jets seem to average $75,000 to $90,000. The large cabin jets seem to be $65,000 to $80,000.

Now, I know that money isn't everything, but given that the general experience level amongst these two categories must be pretty similar to the experience-set of those competitive for the legacy carriers, do those figures not seem slightly low?

I suspect that a couple of years in to a legacy would see an FO earning more than FOs in those large and even heavy intl. corporate positions. They are also on a tiered pay scale which will see them earn considerably more in the coming years, too (if the pro pilot rates are accurate).

So, if my assumption on experience levels is correct, is the upcoming hiring at the legacy carriers going to threaten the candidate pool at corporate jobs? Consequently, is the corporate pay going to be pressured up?

I'm making big assumptions here, I apologise. I'm suggesting that taking good and the bad of the corporate world, other factors such as lifestyle, security, etc. probably balance one-another out.

I'm not sure on command times at corporate departments, I'm sure they're greatly varied, which is why I'm looking and comparing FO rates.

One thing you have to consider is in most of these large corporate jets, both guys up front are typed, captain qualified, and paid at the captain rates. Fractionals are different, but most large companies are flying with co-captains so the FO pay doesn't come into play.

To a point, yes. There will be those that balance compensation with quality of life and decide that the cost/benefit of going to an airline is worthwhile.

The biggest obstacle I see to that are bizav pilots who are interested getting selected to interview, given the huge pool of 121 regional captains (and FOs) that are in the applicant pool.

Consequently, is the corporate pay going to be pressured up?
Quite possibly, nothing gets attention like pilot attrition (at least, in places that aren't already a revolving door).

This is correct. Genrally if your capable of being a captain you get a line check, 4 bars and swap seats every other leg. It's a good way to build PIC jet time. In Cali captain salaries on mid size corporate jets average in the 120s but with no union or number it's the have and have nots. Great for the bright eyes bushy tailed newb but with the average job lasting 5ish years it gets old.

Thanks for the replies, chaps. I was merely curious. I hadn't considered that it would be two co-captains in most instances.

All the best in the corporate arena!
