Default Gulfstream IV info needed

I'm trying to do some research on the Gulfstream IV.

What's the usual insurance minimum required time-in-type for the PIC?
I'm guessing 250 or 500 if you have plenty of previous jet time.

Any good reference documents (i.e. AFM) anywhere online?

Any recommendations on which faciility to use for the initial training (Simuflite, Flightsafety, etc.)? Any pros/cons besides money?

Any additional info would be great.

Thanks,

Go to the website:

SmartCockpit - Airline training guides, Aviation, Operations, Safety

In the upper left-hand corner click-on "My Aircraft". Scroll down and find your aircraft.
I recommend downloading all the pdf files for your aircraft. Dassualt had them pull off the 7X files because of copyright laws and Bombardier had the pull stuff. There's tons of other good documentation up there.

I have seen guys with 100 hours in type meet insurance mins with a lot of total & jet time. If you're going to a sim school house you"ll have plenty of time to study. It's a 23 day course. I think simulate is cheaper but your company may have a better rate with flight safety. Just curious but are you getting the type in an attempt to become a contract pilot?

I'll bite on the initial training. I did my G-IV type in Morristown at CAE Simuflite and was not impressed. Sim. was constantly breaking and the ground school was sub-par.

I'd recommend FSI Savannah for your type as it is strictly a Gulfstream facility and they know their stuff. If you're on the West coast, FSI Long Beach is a good option as well.

FSI will cost a little more but is a superior product IMHO.

Good Luck...You'll love the G-IV it's a beast of an airplane and there's nothing it doesn't do well.

Thanks for the info. Nope, not planning on doing any contract work. A friend is looking to buy one, so I was helping him research all aspects of the G-IV.

As far as school tuition goes, the lowest I've seen was 19,100 yankee dollars.
