IS-BAO help!
I've been tasked with writing a training program for our FOM and have been given very little guidance on what an auditor is looking for. If I can pick someone's brain about what your department does it would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

I'm mired in the ISBAO process my self; not sure if this will help or not.
I'm guessing what they are looking for is something in your FOM that dictates your company's training program and program requirements. How often do you do recurrent? How/when do you do emergency equipment training, winter ops, international ops, etc.?
In the ISBAO Standards I think there's a chapter on training that may be of help.

Are you looking for general info on what training to accomplish departmental wide or a specific training program on the FOM?
In my department (ISBAO Stage 2), we conduct new hire orientation over the course of 2-3 days. It starts with a hangar tour, intros, etc. Generally a sit down with the CP. In house training on the major points of our Operations Manual (employee restrictions, ops limitations, duty rules, security, safety, etc), CRM, and emergency procedures. The rest is kind of informal "here's the flow of things" and here's the online training you need to do for company/corporate requirements (Equal Opportunity, safety, conflict of interest, etc).
A simple 1 hour powerpoint presentation should meet the needs of the auditor. Just make sure that you're covering the major points of your FOM.

Keep it SIMPLE.
I made us a one page excel schedule that lists staff (only 5 of us) and all the training events we will cover, when they were done, when due, and notes on who the vendor is/contact etc.
Simply called "Training Schedule" with these events:
FAA Medical
FSI/CAE Recurrent
Intl Ops Procedures
CRM
BRNAV/PRNAV/MNPS
HAZMAT
AC Emergency EVAC/Equipment
CPR/AED/Forst Aid
FACTS
Winter Ops
Summer Ops
GOM Review (or FOM)
Company/Hangar Emergency Drill
SMS annual Training
We use vendors for everything except a few items which get discussed and recorded at quarterly meeting (we only meet at hangar/office once a quarter for approx 90mins, we aren't office types) Things like "Winter Ops" are a quick review of deice/runway limitations etc. Simple.
We are Stage I ISBAO and auditor liked it a lot. Very quick and easy to see whats due as I will highlight that persons event in RED. They are mainly looking for a way that you track the events, accountability. A simple calendar and notes saved from quarterly meetings was easiest for us.
When asked about "new Hires" I said we dont anticipate any right away and will add a list of items when we do. We will likely be interviewing/adding a pilot soon so I anticipate adding "airplane initial" and a few intro items like Ops Manual review (heres a copy lol) to the list.
We keep/update/distribute this sheet on iPads.
It seems overwhelming at first, but you are likely doing everything you need to be doing...now just document it.
GOOD LUCK!

Want a real laugh, just check out what it takes to become as ISBAO "auditor"...
LOL, its what it is, put it on the shelf and consider it done.
FWIW - FSI is supposed to be coming out with an easy template type SMS for all of us who can safely fly now and just want something to throw up when we need to.

No, you dont need an SMS to operate anywhere, and likely wont for a long time (or at least untuil the FAA says you do?) - BUT - if you have the time you might as well get one going?
It seems like it will be inevitable, and hell, a thorough risk analysis before each departure will certainly make you safer.

FlyerAPC,
One of the reasons I choose not to visit flight info is because of vendettas and bs like you posted. I could care less what a member might post elsewhere as long as they are constructive here. Please don't bring your FI drama to this board. Thanks.

Go read Gulfstream 200s posts on flight info, you'll get a good picture of him. Lots of belittling, talking down and name calling. He changed his name here to hide, plain and simple. He claims nothing to hide, but yet hiding under a different name here.
Constant contradictions.
Constant contradictions.
Never once hid my identity....here or elsewhere. HIDING?? On the internet pilot boards??...wow man, really? I know MANY people here and at other boards. Just PM and I will exchange networking info with just about anyone. Who cares? Isn't that half the point of these boards? I have given and got many interviews and job opportunites just that way.
I'm also the same in person as on any message board (like me or not) No I dont sugar coat anything...but I'll back up my credentials, opinions, and position anyday...How about you?? and you actually believe Flightinfo profiles? that I have 19,000hrs of flight time in the G375? really?
Sounds like YOU got outed as fraud along the line and are angry? You took a lot of time to sign up here simply to stalk me, cut and paste old posts from other boards to "out" me? (was I hiding?)
I told you earlier, since you seem to know me (like many others here do) that you can just get in touch and let me know why you are so bitter? FWIW your pot-stirring skills are rank amatuer at best, so I'm guessing you are truly angry at me for something? need a hug? G200's here for ya, pal.
Since the original poster asked, I offered my best advice and experience on SMS. I certainly didn't claim to be an expert or even say I agree with the SMS concept. How about you constructively partcipate in the thread, or just leave.
Get in touch if ya ever want to work this out?...until then...seriously, get a life...
