Moving to Teterboro Area
Lucky enough to have found a job flying out of Morristown airport and was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction for Safe affordable places to live. Planning on getting a small apartment until the first of January when I can purchase a house and move my family up. I have to live withing 90 Mins and really need a month to month. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks.

I have lived in the MMU area. You dont want to be neat TEB at all...Think North and West of MMU.
We lived in Randolph for a while and it is a decent town.
There is actually a lot of nice areas around MMU -- now...living there on a pilot salary?....good luck with that! - You are very much lower middle class in the area.

Don't forget to look at Craigslist, particularly if you just need a beater for a couple of months. Wayne is actually one of the top cities in America to live, and it's a buyer's market today, with cheap paper to boot! Don't be busting on a pilot's salary, not many people move today for less than 100K.

you mentioned you had kids, and if you wanted good public schools if you're not going to send them to the Private Schools here in NJ, I would recommend Northern Bergen County such as RiverVale, Hillsdale, or Tenafly. With the state of the housing market, nice houses are going for pretty cheap in New Jersey prices. Plus from the tip of Bergen County you are 50 minutes away from Morristown and you are 30 minutes, 40 with traffic from the city.

Jersey shore to MMU is not too bad of a drive, generally... and ultimately there are decent areas to live that are halfway affordable, particularly headed west off I-80 if you check those areas.
Also I don't know what aircraft type you are flying, but if you have the time and want some extra income you may want to get in touch with CAE SimuFlite in Morristown. They are going to be hiring on-call instructors for various programs. It's a pretty good gig.

Thanks for all the info. Mapquest showing less than 90 mins from as far south as Point Pleasant and I hear this time of year there is less traffic to deal with. Jan 1 I am looking for a house and moving the family up so until then I really just need a month to month lease and cheap living which there seems to be plenty of along the coast. I will look into the instructor part time positions. I am current in the Hawker 400xp,800xp,900xp.
