Default The downward spiral of the Pilot Profession?

I was just wondering who here has or plans on paying for the right to view/apply to jobs on sites such as climbto350, bizjetjobs, willflyforfood etc. I personally have in the past and it just makes me sick. I have subscribed to climbto350 and know others that have subscribed to the other two. These websites are exactly what is wrong with aviation. The pilots are just being used to make money and alot of companies can't even do that. We pay for schooling as it should be, we pay to find jobs(climbto350), we pay for type ratings, some employers now are even charging pilots $250 just to be interviewed are you kidding me! What next, pilots fly for free or pay to fly. Oh wait that is already happening. I know I sound bitter, maybe I am but I just want to hear why people are still paying for these services. I have been able to find a ton of sites that list aviation jobs for FREE. I have seen pretty much every job that was listed on climbto350 on these free sites and also some that weren't on 350. So why in the world are pilots falling into this downward spiral of paying for everything when we get very little out of it. I know supply and demand, but where is the breaking point?

Well at least with C350 you are paying for a service. I paid for a year there myself. Nothing came of it.

As far as the other aspects, there are some folks that are willing to sacrifice more than others, regardless to the detrimate to the profession. If flying wasn't such a passion for some folks, I doubt we'd be in as much trouble as we are. So with that said, go out and enjoy the flying, because the rest of reality is just that!

I found my current job and previous job at climbto350. I have had several other leads. You pay for access to job openings. I don't have a problem with it. I find the service helpful and the cost reasonable. Even if you are happy with your current job, you still get a pulse on the industry... who's hiring and for what jobs, where. Its informative.

I see it as companies taking advantage of the economic downturn...

Looking for a job? Got to pay for it! Spend $15/month to view crappy jobs on CT350 or whatever useless site....

Want to apply for an airline job? Got to pay for it! $60 on AirlineApps so you can only APPLY to Colgan, Pinnacle, etc.

Now you can an interview lined up and looking for gouges! Got to pay for it! $10/month on AviationInterviews.com if you want to see more than a couple of gouges.

What's next? Application fee? Background check fee? Drug Screening Fee?

There is nothing new or radical about charging a fee for access to information. Climto350 is a business.

Posted on climbto350 feb 27.

"Candidates are required to arrange and pay for their own B777 type rating upon completion of a successful interview with Korean Air"

Awsome! The bar keeps dropping.

This was posted on CT350 out of Miami. The reason this is probably standard pay now is because people have been accepting this non-sense pay. 24k/yr with those qualifications is a slap in the face, whether you fly left or right seat.

That's the problem with some of these companies, they want someone with experice, tons of hours, type ratings and current, but then they want to pay crap wages. Ridicolous!
