Who will be the first to develop EFB software? I hope we can use Jepp some day.
Unlimited 3G for $29.99/month. Think of the ease of updates, e-APIS, etc.

I'm with you all, Jepp needs to get some good iPhone app developers on board and make a great product here. They'd make a fortune if they can make an EFB that's actually great to use.

Great a super sized IPhone that wont even fit in a pocket. I cant think of a single use for this thing except for apple to sucker you into buying more apps........
I think there was a song written about this many years ago by Tennessee Ernie Ford, went something like this:
You Fly 16 tons and what do you get another day older and deeper in debt,
St Peter dont you call me cause I cant go...I owe my soul to the APP store....

Actually, with the addition of the iWork package to include Keynote, Numbers and Pages, it is basically a mini computer . Much more versatile than the iPhone and basically a replacement for a traditional laptop with far greater portability and a nice, proven touchscreen operation. Now if Jeppesen or Lufthansa (LIDO) would develop a program that will play nice with the Apple OS, this could be a very nice EFB platform.

I wonder how the product naming cycle went? I'm sure they knew there would be a backlash of cramping and bloating jokes. Does anyone think that the name will eventually be accepted or is the product doomed to fail because of it's name?
My guess is that Apple is betting on acceptance in the US market, and doesn't think there is a negative association in the global market.
In the mean time:
Jokes aside, I think it does have potential for a lowcost EFB. My FH and FOM (including Jepps) are available in PFD format. Add an app that does perf. wt & balance, reports, etc. I think it would be a much nicer form factor than a laptop.

In the mean time:
- The airport version - it has wings
- The 11" screen out next year - the Maxi
- The USGS has selected the device for use by Vulcanologists working in the field. A lightweight portable device is great for documenting those heavy flow days.
- A new modification to keep it from slipping - a simple adhesive strip on the back.

The fourth product, about ¼ the width of an iPhone, comes with a short nylon lanyard, will be called the iPon.
