Medical certs. overseas
Recently first class privileges on medical certificates for pilots under 40 were extended from 6 months to a year. Does anyone know for sure if this is also applicable in Europe and other overseas countries or do you need to renew every six months if acting as PIC? Thanks

JAR Medicals are now good for 1 year... date sensative. The issuance of your initial medical is the medical reference date. Thus if you had an initital first class medical issued the 20th of October 2007, then your reference date for experation is the 20th of October of each year thereafter. You can renew your medical a few weeks prior to the reference date.
Just did mine yesterday which expires the 20th of 2010. My ME does both FAA and JAR medicals. I still have to do the FAA medical every 6 months however. Extra dinero . Wake up FAA!!! and extend the first class medicals to 12 calendar months.
