Default Global/Falcon/GV pilots

To the folks flying these birds internationally,

When it came to sorting out your salary & benefits, how did you arrive at the benefits side of things.

My specific question relates to per diems and bonuses.

On what basis/information do you derive your bonus figure ?

If anyone has any suggestions, v. appreciated.

I come from a regional background so a bit unfamiliar with the corp side of things.

Cheers
HotblackD.

I've been in the corporate/charter world for decades. I don't know anyone that gets a perdiem for subsistance. Everywhere I've worked (and that's continuiously since 1983) I've had a company Amex card and general spending limits for meals. The company has always arranged hotel/rental car which is good so the crews can't be accused of being spendy.

I've only heard of two flight departments who's pilots received any kind of a performance bonus or a bonus tied to the company's performance. They were both east coast fortune 500 type of operations.

Where I work we get a "kind of a bonus". Our salary makes us available 24/7/365, but if we work more than 16 days a month we get 300-500 bucks more per day.

Per diem/expenses: Our department requires us to pay for our travel expenses using our personal credit cards and we get reimbursed 2-3 weeks later. Never have any problems paying my AMEX in full each month. It was an uncomfortable situation when I first started but I'm used to it now. We don't have any limits on our expenses. We are told to spend as if it is our own money and haven't had any problems in 2.5 years.

Bonuses: For any flying in excess of 17 days/month and/or in excess of 50 hours/month our bonus increases a certain amount in addition to our annual bonus. My annual bonus the first year of employment was 15%; 2nd year 20%. Last year ended up being 32% after the addition of the above mentioned flight bonus increase and our principal awarding a little extra forseeing difficult economic times ahead for his employees.

Question: Do you get a full salary for the predicted 16 day a month work? What if you don't work the full 16 days?

We get per diem. Cars, hotels etc go on the company card.

Salary regardless of hours.

Never seen a bonus, but we fly very little.

My pay is right in the middle of the NBAA survey.

Quals probably have an impact. In our case, we both have over 20yrs in the biz.

Good luck!

Don't fly a large-cabin, BUT:

We have a two-person department and average about 350 hours per year in our jet and another 100-150 hours each in our Cirrus...averaging 15 work (fly or RON) days per month.

Pilots are paid a salary, like every other full-time employee in our company. Bonuses are given at year-end and are 100% dependent on the company's profitability that year (i.e. not guaranteed).

People actually get 16 day a month work schedules that is awsome but I have yet to see it. July I had 4 days off, two of which where FAR days, August I had 5 days off, three of which where FAR days. Last month I had a prenegotiated 8 day period off. That my friends meets the FAA requirement for 135 quartly days off. (13) That is the life of a charter/corporate pilot. Good Luck
