Default SIC type rating

An SIC type rating was orginally created as an ICAO requirment and is usless in the states. It is the same as getting the SIC endorsement in the back of your logbook. It is no where even close to a PIC type.

I agree with not having to get the type and deal with the FSDO. However having the SIC type will help your credability and prevent you from having to bring your logbook in and proving that you have the sign off during part 91/135 job interviews.

True, but it's one more thing to put in your bag of tricks! If I had the opportunity, I'd do it just so it'd be there to give me a 1-up on someone else.
