PTO Policies
My company is trying to come up with a written black and white vacation policy for out department. We are a small three pilot one jet flight department. We currently fly 200-225 days a year per pilot with about 80-90 overnights. In the past the PTO has been handled on a case by case basis but now HR wants everything in writing. Nice thing is we are allowed to put our input in. Do any of you want to share your department size and your PTO policy? Thank you for any help

With the right people, this works out great...no problem taking 6 planned weeks/yr or more. A few of us like a solid month off to go to vacation homes, etc...no problem just cover the next solid month.
Put whatever you want in writing to please HR, if you have good people a 3 pilot airplane is not bad (4 is perfect!) but if you have a douche or 2 in the mix...nightmare...or if your owner is the cheap prik type that expects you to vacation only when the plane is in mx, etc..
Having the buffer of a contract guy may also help, if thats an option for you.
good luck.
