Default Engine Ignition for Take off & Landing

I would like to get some feedback from those who fly Hawker 800XP, 850XP and 750 aircraft. The 900XP has auto ignition. I come from a background of using ignition for takeoff, then turning off as required on the climb check, and then getting it back on again during the approach and landing phase. This was done 100% of the time regardless of weather. I noticed we have moved away from this and they are only included in the line up checklist as an " as required " item referring to water or ice contamination. Does anyone else use the ignition for takeoff and landing asides from myself......

Off subject, I know but... Falcon 20 yes(ignition on), 50ex no, 900B yes. Go figure.

I fly the 800XP and am a FSI part time instructor. We teach initial guys to always use the ignition for ALL take offs and landings, if its going to help keep the fire lit than put it on. Now at my full time job, by order of the Chief Pilot we dont use them when the weather is clear and a million, but if there are any concern at all then they go on and stay on until I feel like turning them off, there is no limitation to the use of ignitions.

I fly multiple aircraft including the Hawker 800 and XP. I always turn on the ignition for Takeoff, Landing, and as necessary.

Same here folks. (750) Ignition on for takeoff, and fully assured/executed landing. Great practice, and will always be.

IGN on the GIII has some pretty serious limits, so it's rarely used. There is a mod that removes this limitation, but I'm told not alot of folks have it.

Hoof,

The checklist for the -5 engines (800XP, 850XP and 750) have you turn the ignition on for TO and landing, although the -50 (900XP) you just leave it in auto. Our company standard is to turn it to the ON position no matter whether you are in the -5 or -50, just because we operate both and want it to be simple.

If you don't mind me asking Hoof where do you work? There are not many 750's (38 to my knowlegde) and not many 900xp's (about 109) out there right now.

I noticed the verbage has been changed in the 750 Line Up and After Take Off section of the Checklist to ANTIICE and ENG IGNITION----As Required; where it used to be "ON" in the older aircraft I flew. I'm going to request the Honeywell TFE 731 engine guidebook in my next recurrent at FSI.
Thanks for your feedback guys. I see no reason why we shouldn't continue this safe practice.

Auto means auto in my book......until someone presents an example of a flameout that the auto ignition didn't catch, and by them turning on the switch, magically saved the day!.....
