"I'll cradle the balls, stroke the shaft, work the pipe, and swallow the gravy."

Kinda sounds the same to me. Oh, and if you haven't seen Tropic Thunder, the above quote should be ignored.

I dont know exactly what the above poster is trying to imply (I havent seen Tropic Thunder) but most people would probably do the same thing and just not talk about it. I mean isnt that why people go to the REGIONAL airlines?

Because taking a Falcon 900 gig for $15,000/year is stabbing the fellow Falcon 900 pilots in the back.

Company B might see company A doing this so guess what, they drop their FO salary....and so it starts.

Sorry, I made more than $15k in the 8 months I was employed by my regional this year and I didn't pay for my type. Sad, yet nice attempt at rationalizing.

Remember, even hookers make market rate.

Simply not true. Aviation board paranoia.

Hey ovrtake92,

I'll pay for my type rating and I'll do one better I'll work for free. I love the Falcon too, and I'll be willing to forfeit any compensation to fly if for you. Why spend $15,000 on someone, when I'd be willing to do it for free. Better yet, I would NEVER ask for a raise because I would be so grateful for the opportunity to fly your Falcon. This is a second career for me anyway and my family has a lot of money.
I can start as soon as possible, just PM me the details.

You're joking, right? You guys aren't serious, are you?

This is a PROFESSION! That means we're professionals. Professionals get paid to do what they do, and not at a substantially discounted rate from the established rates charged by the other professionals doing the same thing. Granted, there are times when it's appropriate to offer one's services for free, i.e. flying sick kids to treatment centers or such, but to say that you'll fly a multi-million dollar jet just for the fun of it is about as unprofessional as it gets.

Pardon the rant if you were just yanking the confused kid's chain.

You're pardoned. Hang around a bit longer and you'll quickly see which ones to take seriously and which are '' .

DEAL! Of course I'm joking! I make jokes instead of blowing a fuse to reply to the absurdity of someone buying a type rating. You cant buy experience, even for 37,000 dollars. This mentality is just a part of our instant gratification society that thinks if you have a credit card (or big loan) you can just magic wand yourself whatever you want. I had to work a crappy, turboprop job and walk uphill both ways in the snow to get the job I have now. So try that instead of spending money you dont have on a type rating you dont need.
