They're both type rating factories. There are great instructors at both. However, I felt that my bizjet type ratings were handed to me.
I'm not trying to start a 121 vs 91/135 war but, in my own experience, Simuflite/FSI was a cakewalk compared to my 121 training.
That said, I thouht that Simuflite had better food.

On the other hand, the 121 training is all incussive, the particular operators procedures, and training the aircraft using the minimum acceptable level of training devices allowable by regulations. With my expereicnce in the 121 world, there was never a professional instructional technologist looking at the syllabus to ensure we were touching on all the senses for learning to take place, it was just the required number of ground school followed by the required number of simulator hours and nervous as heck prior to your check ride.
At Part 142 training centers, training is a business, so they provide the best of training to ease the difficulties. At an airline, training is a necesary evil, do it as cheaply as possible. That's why it seemed harder, it was harder, because they don't afford the expenses of making it methodical. Just get'r done.
